I am a life-long English language speaker, writer and reader. This may sound like a joke, but it really isnt; I believe that language is both powerful and fun, and I delight in helping students express their thoughts, share their ideas, and learn from othersall vital communication skills. I have taught students of all ages to be active readers, expressive writers and thoughtful speakers. Working as a professional writer, I am skilled in expressing complex ideas in clear, simple language, and in helping students and colleagues articulate their thoughts in spoken and written language. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Franklin & Marshall College in 2021 with a B.A. in Moral Psychology and a minor in Russian Studies. Previously, I've participated in workshops with F&M alumni in education, interned with an arts-based preschool, and recently finished tutoring at my local school district, working with second graders and K-5 students; in the future, I will be serving as an ESL co-teacher overseas through the Fulbright Taiwan program. As the first in my family to make it past elementary school, I have always understood the power of knowledge and the opportunities it can afford you. Even more importantly, my goal is to instill a love of learning into my students because there is no better intrinsic motivator, and this drive is what humans appreciate the world in which we live.

My experience includes working with students: tutoring, teaching and helping other students achieve their best potential. I got my education at American University, Franklin and Marshall, and the University of Maryland. I have obtained a High school degree and I am currently in progress trying to get a college degree at the University of Maryland. I am starting my fourth year of college. I tutor math- Algebra and Algebra Two, Economics- Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, History- all history, World History especially history (it is my favorite subject) and I am very widely read in all types of history. How would you describe your teaching philosophy and your tutoring style? My teaching philosophy is patience, practice, and deep learning. I like soccer, reading, basketball, writing, coffee, swimming and art.

I am a current graduate student at the University of Chicago studying clinical social work with a concentration in pediatric psychiatry. I received my Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Franklin and Marshall College. I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults. I started tutoring elementary and middle school students when I was in high school and continued to tutor when I was in college. Additionally, when I was in college I worked for an organization where I advised three high school students through the entirety of the college application process. Currently, I am a social work intern in the department of psychiatry at Lurie Children's Hospital. I have experience working with young people who encompass a wide range of learning abilities and I am sensitive to the unique needs that may pose a challenge to a student's learning. I am comfortable tutoring a variety of different subjects, but I have the most experience tutoring psychology, English, and science. I strongly believe in fostering an environment where the student feels supported and encouraged in the learning process.

I have a real passion for teaching and helping students learn and master new skills and concepts. I truly believe that everyone can learn if the right supports are in place. This means taking the time to first get to know an individual and then using his or her interests along with research based learning techniques to make for a productive learning experience that is fun and engaging too. This also means being flexible and figuring out the best learning practice for each individual, as everyone learns in different ways.A little bit about me. I studied history and international studies at Franklin and Marshall College. Currently, I am finishing up a masters program at Vanderbilt University's Peabody College of Education where I will receive a degree and certification in Elementary Education. In addition to teaching both in the US and abroad (I taught English for 6 months in Thailand!), I have had several experiences tutoring, too. Beginning in high school and continuing in college and graduate school, I have tutored students in all elementary subjects and at the college level in writing. When I am not teaching or tutoring, I like to read, go running, try new restaurants in my neighborhood or explore new exhibits at museums.

I found my passion for teaching when I found my passion for learning. That moment of complete understanding, of the puzzle pieces fitting together, made me want others to share that feeling. In middle school I began teaching English to recent immigrants in my town and translating for international campers at my YMCA summer job. I began tutoring and editing papers and college essays for my peers in high school; I loved the opportunity to revise their work. I became a teaching assistant while at Franklin & Marshall College in both the Neuroscience and Chemistry Departments working to run labs and teach lecture. I served as a teaching assistant for a freshman writing seminar and in that program I received training as an essay tutor. I also volunteered at the International Center on campus as an English language tutor. I am fluent in Spanish and Russian having studied Russian at Middlebury College's intensive summer immersion program. I have used my Bachelors in neuroscience in hospital and laboratory settings since graduation in 2012 and love following the latest research.My goals in tutoring are to help students break down overwhelming material into manageable pieces, to see the big picture value of their school subjects, and to find tangible success in their every effort. I focus on helping the student talk through the their concerns and ideas. I encourage students to share their own strategies to determine what will work best with individual learning styles. I have many ideas for students to strengthen test taking and time management. I look forward to helping students succeed in their coursework and test taking.

I am a law student at Drexel University Kline School of Law and a graduate of Franklin and Marshall College with a BA in Cognitive Science with a minor in Music. I have also taken numerous classes in Biology and have broad understanding of that field. I have also studied both Spanish and Hebrew languages and can speak both at an intermediate level. I tutor students in a variety of disciplines including biology, mathematics, composition, and test prep for SAT, PSAT, and ACT. My teaching philosophy is that because no student is exactly like another, neither should be my approach to teaching them. I like to get to know every student academically as well as personally so that I can best understand how to help you achieve and exceed your goals. Outside of my studies, I am a diehard football fan, an avid theater-goer, and a prominent student leader on my campus.

I graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in May of 2018. I majored in Astrophysics with a Chinese minor. I decided to take two years off and work at a non profit aimed to help underrepresented students get access to opportunities and resources not readily available in their community. There I had a once in a lifetime opportunity to contribute and give back to the Lancaster community by creating my own 12-week engineering and coding course for the scholars in the program. These experiences inspired me to continue my education and attain my Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. I love tutoring and mentoring because it provides me with the opportunity to pay it forward and support the next generation of leaders. Learning is an amazing experience but everyone is different, and as a teacher it is my role to cater to your learning style to show that nothing is too hard to master.

As a business and computer science student at Franklin & Marshall College, I have experienced first hand how having a tutor can be extremely beneficial for success.
