Often times I hear "I'll never use this. Why do we have to learn this?" My goal is to make Math concepts relatable, using real-world examples as often as possible. Throughout my teaching career I have spent the majority of my time teaching Middle School Math specifically 6-8th grades.I received my undergraduate in Elementary Education. I have earned a Masters Degree in School Counseling.I am excited to tutor students in Mathematics. In addition, making use of my second degree, I have numerous studies and organizational skills to share for those who are looking to improve in those areas. I recently relocated to Houston, Texas, where I intend to continue teaching, tutoring, and mentoring. I have worked with third through fifth grade students with reading difficulties for nearly 10 years. I am primarily a Mathematics tutor, but my first love is English, and I truly enjoy working with students in Computer Science as well. Since my MS from Clemson is a breadth degree, I am an expert in all six areas of Mathematics. My goal is to turn negative attitudes towards difficult subjects into positive attitudes with accomplishment and understanding on the part of my students. I received my bachelor's degree in biological sciences from Clemson University in 2006 and my PhD in Plant Pathology from the University of Florida in 2011. Plant Pathology is a specialized discipline in the field of microbiology which is a combination of plant sciences (horticulture, genetics, etc) with microbes which parasitize plants. I really enjoy teaching all subjects pertaining to the life sciences, including biology, microbiology, plant sciences, and genetics. Living organisms, their surrounding environment, and genetic make-up have always fascinated me since I was a child.
