Just a science and math loving individual looking to share the love of learning and help fan the flames of success!

I am a graduate of Christopher Newport University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a concentration in Criminology, and minored in Human Rights and Conflict Resolution. Since graduation, I have obtained my Masters of Science in Criminal Justice with a specialization in victim studies from the University of Baltimore. I then attended Mitchell Hamline School of Law, where I received my Juris Doctor and graduated with honors. Throughout my academic career, I have tutored and mentored numerous students, which aided their success in getting high grades and a better understanding of the subject areas they once needed help in. In my experience tutoring students and helping them while they struggled to prepare for tests/ understand the subject matter, I made an effort to accommodate their learning style and get to the root of their confusion. I understand students come to school with their own life experiences and own way of thinking. This is why I practice patience and choose to customize their learning in a way that fits them so they can begin to comfortably understand each concept. I am a firm believer that no question is a dumb question and I am here to help and invest in each student's way of learning and understanding.

I am a graduate from Christopher Newport University with a degree in English and Theater. I'm working towards a graduate degree in Linguistics and Playwriting. I love the English language and focus my tutoring on those areas. I think that communication is key in the learning process and that the most important part of learning is getting the student to retain that knowledge for other areas of his or her life. I am to find ways that make the concepts easy to understand, and as such, easy to remember in the future. I enjoy theatre, film, dancing, and cooking.
I am a self motivated, honest, loyal, and dependable educator. Mutual respect is role modeled, taught, and expected. I love showing students that writing and reading can be interesting and there are skills and processes, they can learn to help them become even better writers and readers. If given the opportunity, my previous leadership, mentoring, and teaching experiences will serve your student and family well.
In 2011, I graduated from Christopher Newport University with a Bachelor of Arts. After my graduation, I traveled to Bangkok, Thailand where I taught kindergarten in a bilingual school for one year. Then, I returned to the US and attended the Teacher Licensure Program at the University of Richmond. I hold a Virginia state teaching license in elementary education and in the 2014-2015 school year I will be teaching first grade. My tutoring experience includes volunteering with a program for middle school students who were English language learners preparing for state standardized tests. While I was at the University of Richmond, I participated in their reading tutor program where I worked one-on-one a student developing his reading and writing skills. I enjoy teaching language arts and mathematics to students using research-based strategies to help them succeed. There is nothing more rewarding than guiding a student to that break through moment when a subject they never thought they would understand finally makes sense. I believe it is important to use assessment and students' performances in order to make informed instructional decisions that target their specific needs. In my personal time, I enjoy working out and playing tennis, as well as art and photography.
My expertise is in English, College & University Admissions & Essays, Writing & working with students with intellectual or developmental disabilities as a registered behavioral therapist with ABA experience. As a certified peer recovery specialist, I am uniquely qualified to help students of all levels from elementary to doctoral to adult learners excel in writing, research, test prep, organizational skills, and even creative fields like theatre, Roblox game design or other new interests! With 15+ years of experience, I specialize in supporting neurodivergent learners and those facing mental health challenges, blending academic rigor with curiosity-driven learning. My approach is collaborative and compassionate, encouraging critical thinking, creativity, and resilience so students grow both academically and personally.
I believe learning works best when it's calm and encouraging. I tailor each session to the student, keep things straightforward, and focus on helping them feel more confident with the material.

I am a medical school student looking to help students with mainly science, particularly biology and chemistry. I also used to work at a tutoring/learning center for math and reading. Chemistry- 6+ years of experience teaching in a very competitive public school county, honors, regular, up to college level. Completed a minor in undergrad because I loved the topic! Biology- major in undergrad, in addition to currently learning material in medical school Elementary school levels- Specialized in students needing reading and math help. Goal is to help students understand material better with tricks and tips I learned from the prior tutoring center.
