If the teacher and student both understand the ideal way the student learns, environment and learning style, then that student can also be successful. I hold a Masters degree in Education and a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Houston. I am a native Texan, but I have lived in Hawaii, Tennessee, and California. Teaching is my second career, but I have been teaching special populations for eight years. I have a proven track record of identifying gaps in learning. In addition, I model strategies of successful learning and then have the students practice those strategies. Through modeling successful learning, I have had several students pass state level standardized tests, after rigorous, individualized tutoring. Reading, home improvement projects, and spending quality time with my family are among my favorite hobbies. I also volunteer my time with at-risk youth, as well as being an avid recycling enthusiast.
