I am from Calgary, Canada and I am a graduate of The University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. I received my Bachelor of Elementary Education with a focus on the Spanish language in 2012. Since graduation, I have travelled to Europe and Central America. I currently live in Costa Rica. While I was in Canada, I taught a variety of classes, ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 12. I spent the last 5 years in K-4. My favourite classes were those of my grade 1/2 combined classes. We worked together to ensure that their learning was fun, engaging and that we had a laugh each day. I like to help students realize that learning is much more for them than what happens on paper. It is learning who they are as a learner and what makes school or learning exciting for them. I am a believer in taking learning out of the classroom and into nature where I would have my students use sticks and rocks to help solve math problems or demonstrate their art skills. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, and I like to encourage my students to do the same. I also love working on my mental health through fitness, yoga and hiking in the mountains. I always encourage my students to be physically active and teach them the importance of this!

An effective educator must be able to recognize each individual student's learning style and to adapt the lesson to accommodate that style. Also, each student has a different rate of learning.
