I am a Chilean Teacher with a diverse background. I started as a Music Teacher many years ago and when I came to the US, I got a Master's Degree in Cultural and Linguistic Diversity, with concentration in Hispanic Language and Studies. I have taught Spanish for different ages and levels at different Colleges for the last 13 years. You can be confident that I know what I'm talking about when it comes to the Spanish language and Spanish and Latin American Culture.

I'm currently a senior at Vanderbilt double majoring in history and business, while also preparing for the LSAT exam. I've tutored several different subject areas, but I can make the most impact assisting students with history, reading, and writing. I believe that every student has the potential to achieve their goals, and that by helping others I can enhance my own education as well.

I love making complex ideas digestible. I discovered this during my eight years as a competitive debater in high school and college. I was lucky enough to coach high school debate for four years helping students learn how research, write and speak in front of an audience. At my undergraduate, Simpson College, I tutored college and high school students in mathematics, economics, accounting and edited papers. I firmly believe every student can succeed if they set a goal, seek out the right support (that's me!) and work hard. I graduated Simpson College in 2016 with degrees in Economics and History, and I am currently applying to Ph. D. programs in Latin American History. As a full-time dork, I also love playing board games, video games, reading with my cat and learning about new and interesting ideas and people.

I am currently a 2nd year PhD student in Biomedical Sciences (Infectious Diseases) at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL. I am currently performing my dissertation work in Dr. Herve Roy's lab where we focus on characterizing a tRNA dependent pathway for lipid modification that is conserved in bacteria and is a cause of increased antimicrobial resistance in many pathogens. I have been involved in higher level education (both undergraduate and graduate) for over 8 years now. Through my own successes and particularly my failures (yes I've had my fair share) in courses I've taken throughout my career, I am very aware of what it takes to be a successful student in various subject areas.

I graduated from high school at Fordham Preparatory School in 2010 and am currently taking a semester off before my final year at the Macaulay Honors College at CUNY Brooklyn. I am working towards two bachelors degrees: a BFA in Creative Writing and a BA in Psychology.My first tutoring experience was in my senior year of high school during which I tutored juniors who wanted extra help preparing for the AP Language and Composition exam, which I had taken the previous year. In college I have helped students struggling with general essay-writing and specific English courses—mainly writing-intensive courses but in some cases literature classes as well. I have tutored students, including some non-native speakers, who struggled with essay-writing and grammar, syntax, and usage issues.My favorite subject to tutor was definitely AP Language and Composition mostly because of my interest in the subject itself. A lot of students know how to write a good essay but really struggle with this particular AP material because it requires you to take a step back and dissect the specific methods and structures at play in a given passage presented at random. Being able to put one's finger on the precise rhetorical methods that go into a strong piece of writing is really an enlightening experience.As far as my personal tutoring style, I prefer to provide students with the guidance and practice necessary to understand each individual facet of a given subject until they feel completely comfortable with the material on their own. I find it very important to avoid overwhelming students with the big picture of something like an SAT or AP exam and prefer to break down the material into manageable pieces which, once mastered, will allow the student to excel at the subject as a whole.Besides my academic pursuits, I enjoy going to shows for local bands in Manhattan and Brooklyn, and I participate in a bi-monthly poetry reading presented by a group with whom I workshop my personal writing projects. I spend a decent amount of time reading poetry and fiction when left to my own devices, but I also have a weakness for television and may just as likely be found catching up on reality shows.

I am a recent graduate of the University of Pittsburgh Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, and a newly licensed Physical Therapist. I am a Midwest native, receiving my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Health at Iowa State University. I am eager to help students prepare for the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE). I will work with students to develop a goal-based timeline for exam preparation, guiding them through a review of their NPTE study materials/course-work. Asking questions along the way is key I am here to answer! I have experience providing individual and group education sessions, and I will bring these communication skills, as well as positivity and kindness to each tutoring session. Whether it has been in a classroom filled with elementary/middle school students or helping students of all ages prepare for Standardized Tests, my professional and volunteer work illustrates the lengths to which I have gone to make this dream a reality for many learners.
