We covered solving equations. The student struggled with keeping up with his signs and multiplying and dividing correctly. He was positive throughout the session and wanted to work as many problems as possible. I spoke with his mom at the end of session and told her I would like to start future sessions with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division drills with the student during the first 10 minutes of the session.

Today we worked on rational functions (fractions w/polynomials). We sketched several functions, first finding the horizontal and vertical asymptotes, then the x and y intercepts, then a few more points and sketching from there. Along the way, we came up with a short mnemonic device to remember the rules of horizontal asymptotes. The student was able to be exposed to different types of graphs, as well as get very good practice at drawing them.

In this session, the student and I completed the test review for his retake test (scheduled tomorrow). The material we covered included polynomials, roots/zeroes, and graph behavior. He has a good attitude towards the material and seemed to understand it fairly well after was is explained.
