I am graduate from Kelley School of Business, Indiana University. I studied Information Systems with a major in Business Intelligence and Analytics. I also did a two year fellowship with Teach for India where I got the chance to teach students. I believe that teaching requires a lot of hard work and effort as it is very important for the teacher to look at things from the student's perspective. I absolutely love teaching Mathematics and I feel proud to share that most of my students have become Math's wizards even though they didn't like the subject earlier. My teaching pedagogy involves innovative hands-on exercises and discussions designed to foster creativity and rationality among children using real life applications on concepts. I am really excited about teaching.

My tutoring style is structured on the principle that not every person learns the same way. It's not always how you were taught the material, but how it was received. If it was never received and learned by the student, they were never taught.I teach Sciences (chemistry, biology), and Math and have an Arizona Department of Education Substitute Teaching Certificate. I have my Master's in Forest Resources but I tell everyone it's in Wood Chemistry. I enjoy the challenge of solving problems and I have used that as my basis for careers I have chosen. Here is a little of my Philosophy of Teaching.....Learning is, of course, the main purpose of education. I feel that the concept of learning should be molded around three steps. First, learn and understand the material presented. Second, independent thought is essential to the development of every student. Being able to form unique independent ideas to solve problems is the next step in the formal learning process. Finally, the use of learned concepts in new situations is essential for the student to prove understanding. By using understood information, students should be able to apply what they have learned to new situations presented to them by the teacher and in the future, by life. Transfer of this sort is what really determines what has been absorbed and will stick with the student for a lifetime.Learning can be fun. Select me as your tutor and you will find out how and why.

I am currently an honors undergraduate student at The Ohio State University studying Data Analytics with a focus on Biomedical and Public Health Analysis. My passion for tutoring comes from the belief that learning is supposed to be a fun and enriching process. I hope to help students find their love for learning. My tutoring experience comes from volunteer tutoring as part of National Honors Society in high school and by coaching/teaching the middle school academic challenge team. In my experience tutoring, I find that it is important to adapt to the learning style of each individual student. I tutor a variety of subjects including math ranging from Algebra through Calculus up to Linear Algebra, Biology, Chemistry, English, and Statistics. My favorite subject to tutor is any sort of math. In my spare time, I like to play sports like basketball or tennis, play video games, and read.

I obtained my Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics at the University of Connecticut (UConn) and I now work as a Lecturer for the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, School of Mathematics.I also obtained both my Bachelor's and Master's of Arts degree from Rhode Island College (RIC) and have worked as a Math Tutor and Teacher's Assistant throughout my time at RIC. Intellectually, I believe knowledge is fluid and requires practice to perfect. I enjoy showing my peers/students different ways of examining problems in order to achieve a well-rounded understanding of the material through derivation, never memorization. My main mission is to showcase my passion for Math and hopefully encourage students to see the beauty and wonder of this phenomenal subject.

I graduated from Northern Arizona University with Bachelor's Degrees in Physics and Astronomy. Mathematics is an important part of both fields and my strong suit. Consequently, I have a minor in Mathematics that I have applied to my work on endless occasions. My math background encompasses basic subjects like algebra, geometry, and calculus up through advanced subjects such as linear algebra, multivariable calculus, differential equations, and advanced geometry. During my senior year I received a NASA Space Grant and began research with the U.S. Geological Survey Astrogeology Research Center in Flagstaff, AZ. This project eventually became my Master's Thesis.I graduated a second time from Northern Arizona University with a Master's Degree in Applied Physics. My research emphasis was planetary science, which allowed me to become very involved with the U.S.G.S. My planetary studies required me to not only focus on the physics of planets, but also on their geology. As such, I have a broad range of academic backgrounds, including astronomy, astrobiology, field geology, and geomorphology. I've even assisted in research at the Sudbury Impact Structure in Ontario, Canada and attended numerous scientific conferences.During my graduate studies I taught three different lab courses: Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, and Life in the Universe. These were intended for non-physics-major students, so I have had extensive practice in bringing even the most advanced concepts down to a level that any student can understand. The lab courses were also relatively small (between 10 and 20 students). The small class sizes allowed me to learn to teach with hands-on methods as well as lecture-style methods, many times in a one-on-one setting.I love to teach, plain and simple. To witness a student truly understand a concept is very rewarding for both the student and the teacher. They say knowledge is power. Then to understand the universe (even just a small fraction of it) is power, indeed. SCIENCE!!!

I graduated from the University of Oregon with a BA in Mathematics and concurrently completed a BA in Spanish. Currently I'm working on completing a MS in Statistics at Portland State University. I enjoy playing guitar, reading, learning foreign languages and math. I've loved math for the way it offers never-ending opportunities of discovery and ways for people to push the boundaries of their abilities and knowledge. I believe that with a strong motivation to work hard, and some encouragement, that we're all capable of excelling at math despite however difficult it may be.Working as a ninth grade math teacher in a public school in Mozambique as a Peace Corps Volunteer I've had experience teaching and tutoring hundreds of students. Additionally, I have worked with kids as young as elementary school up to adults to understand algebra, arithmetic, geometry and calculus in English as well as in Spanish. I am also equipped to tutor beginning and intermediate Spanish learners. As a tutor, I consider the student's prior knowledge of subject matter as well as his/her strengths, and difficulties when approaching a manner of instruction. Moving at a slow rate, I provide explanations and examples of the concepts at hand and then allow the student opportunities to test his/her knowledge. With appropriate motivation, encouragement and time, anybody can overcome his/her difficulties and learn something new and valuable.

I recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in sustainability from Jacksonville University, and then moved across the country to pursue a master's in environmental engineering. I am passionate about the opportunities education opens, and I love helping students succeed! I have tutored a variety of age ranges and skill levels, primarily in math. I enjoy taking a "goal oriented" approach to tutoring, in which the student and I can break down our main goal into smaller goals. My approach allows students to feel less overwhelmed, while giving them a foundation to begin solving problems themselves. There is no problem your student and I cannot tackle!

I am student at Wright State University (WSU) in Dayton Ohio. I just finished up a Bachelor of Science in physics and graduated in September 2015. I love the challenges in my coursework and the sense of accomplishment I experience when I'm able to apply my knowledge to research or teaching. At WSU I had an exciting opportunity to teach a few of the general physics lab sections for the Physics Department as a student employee. The labs I taught each semester from January 2013 to May 2015 corresponded to General Physics (I) and (II). The experiences I had teaching developed my ability to communicate and share my knowledge with less experienced students. I know how to approach teaching in a way that allows students to actually leave the course with a sense of accomplishment and having learned something useful. I am currently available for and enjoy tutoring the following subjects: Math, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Algebra 3/4, Pre-calculus, Calculus 1, and Differential Equations. My approach to teaching emphasizes conceptual understanding, the development of critical thinking skills as well as problem solving skills. These aspects of learning are essential for anyone wishing to become a competent professional in a technical field like physics, engineering or mathematics, or anyone else required to tackle similarly technical courses.

As a tutor I understand that each student learns at their own pace. I focus on mastery based learning where the student must demonstrate adequate aptitude in the theoretical and practical aspects of a subject before we move on to a different one. Emphasis is placed on teaching principles and nurturing independent thought for problem solving. As a tutor, I rely on being patient, having dynamic lessons, and on demonstrating how various aspects of a subject tie together and build upon each other.

I have an intimate relationship with tutoring, in part because it's sort of the only way I really learn: I don't really understand a topic until I can teach it to someone else. Because of that, when I was in school I would regularly be tutoring other students. I also spent hours and hours tutoring others over the Internet. For me teaching is an adventure. Everyone has different perspectives, and when you are teaching you have to be able to both provide a new perspective and to understand (so as to enlarge) someone else's perspective. In my non-teaching time, I am interested in Physics and Mathematics and working out practical problems from plumbing to electronics. I will someday go back for my Ph.D. in Physics but until then I am looking to grow as an engineer or computer programmer.
