I am currently teaching AP Computer Science to high school students. My students have passed their AP tests with 5 point scores in 2015- 2016. I have been teaching for many years. I teach Math Abacus to k through 7th grade students at a learning center. I love to see my students succeed in their grades. I try to customize my teaching approach for different grade levels. It is a learning experience for me whenever I teach to my students. Usually I explore the concepts for a decent number of times until the students are comfortable doing the lessons independently. The peer pressure and a fierce competitive environment are the factors that sometimes kids cannot learn a subject in a given time period in school. I am flexible in my teaching and can make changes accordingly to promote a unique learning experience. Before I worked in the field of Software Engineering, I used to teach at an elementary school and at a college in India and so I think I have some idea about how different teaching styles can be an effective tool for kids with different potentials. In my experience, learning math and science can be sometimes overwhelming for some kids but working on one concept at a time would make the transition much easier.

I am an undergraduate at Penn State - University Park and pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a focus on Artificial Intelligence and a minor in Business. I have worked as a tutor for three years, and love teaching in any STEM field. I was a lead tutor for a programming company, Code Ninjas, and have significant experience with mechanical and electrical physics. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I always enjoy teaching computer science as I find that computer literacy is a crucial skill as our world grows more technical. I have experience both with students who are completely new to computer science and those who are preparing for AP Exams and everything in between. I have studied Python, Java, and JavaScript; any program that you need to understand and accelerate in your class. I try to make education fun and more personal than in a classroom setting and hope that you take away the knowledge you need to strive in the STEM fields.

With 1 years of tutoring experience and almost 4 years of software experience at Google, I believe that I am uniquely positioned to equip students and adults with the knowledge of computers and math. Learning math and computers has always been a joy for me, and sharing that joy with those who find it challenging or miserable inspires me to work hard for my students. I make tutoring sessions personal by engaging with students and finding out their motivations and desires, and fun by empathizing with their frustrations and turning them into laughter.

I am a student currently taking time off from college at Umass Amherst where I major in computer science. I have strong math and science skills, and have always excelled in those courses. I have had quite a bit of experience in academically competitive environments, and know first hand how overwhelming they can be. With this in mind, my goal for tutoring your student would be to provide them with a completely comfortable and secure setting where they are unafraid to ask as many questions as they desire, and can revisit material as often as necessary for it to stick.Whether your student's vision of academic success involves more challenging material than what they are given, or solidifying the required curriculum, I'm here to help. I hope you will consider me to tutor your student!

Teaching is very rewarding, and I believe learning should be too. One of my greatest accomplishments has been to equip students to be independent learners by helping them discover joy and purpose in what they learn as well as the self-awareness they need to keep improving. It is a life-long adventure.Subjects I teach would fall into four main categories: Computer Science/Programming, ESL, Math, and Music. I would like to explain my background regarding each category:Computer Science/Programming: I am 3 courses away from a BS in Computer Science and I'm currently working on a real-life project involving web development, databases, and Android development. A large part of this project requires explaining technical concepts to coworkers who don't have the same technical background I do.ESL: I've also taught ESL to children in Asia for 5 years, so I have an awareness of and ability to help ESL/ELL students through many of the challenges they may have.Math: I have completed coursework through a high-school level of basic Calculus and had the pleasure of tutoring a Pre-Calculus high school math student shortly after graduating from high school. It was a fun and rewarding experience, probably even more for me than for the student. Since high school, I have also had to apply my Algebra in some Computer Science coursework.Music: I have a Music Minor with my first BS. At a young age, I learned to play the violin by ear through the Suzuki Violin Method and have just started giving my own son of 4 years his first violin lessons! I thoroughly enjoy helping people with some musical passion learn the skills and tools they need to express themselves through music.

As a tutor, I aim to make learning exciting and relevant to children. One of the greatest challenges facing young students is that information is presented to them in a stale, inaccessible way. Specifically in the context of standardized testing, they are asked to memorize and regurgitate information without truly grasping its content; such a style makes it impossible for students to approach unfamiliar problems and think critically, and often contributes to their discouragement and their writing off of entire subjects like math and science. I attempt to give students the ability to think critically, relish the problem solving process, and come to solutions on their own. To this end, I attempt to speak clearly and concisely, to make high-level concepts accessible to students of all ability levels, and to create strong personal relationships with my students. I am currently accepting students in all math subjects through the high school level, standardized test preparation (SAT, GRE, SSAT, PSAT), computer science, writing, study skills and organizational skills.I recently graduated from Vassar College in New York where I majored in computer science with minors in math and art history. I strongly believe in holistic approaches to education, and as a computer science at a liberal arts college, I had invaluable experience studying both math and science while continuing to develop my critical writing, reading and research abilities. At Vassar, I was deeply involved in the computer science department as a tutor and lab coach for several years and as the department-wide academic intern. In these roles, I worked with students of all levels in the department to complete their homework and lab assignments and to study for tests, and held open review sessions and recitation classes for our 100 and 200 level courses. Additionally, I have worked as a middle school tutor and test prep coach and feel very comfortable working with students of all ages and skill levels.

I am an undergraduate student entering my third year at the University of California, Berkeley. I am pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and Statistics. Since I was a sophomore in high school, I've tutored several students in various subjects; this includes my time tutoring high school peers and underclassmen as a member of my high school's Math Honors Society and helping elementary schoolers with fundamental mathematical concepts as an IMACS Teaching Assistant. While I'm comfortable teaching a wide range of subjects, I love mathematics the most (e.g. Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus, Statistics). I also have a lot of experience with the SAT and SAT Subject Tests, so I would be comfortable helping students in this way as well. As a longtime member of TASSEL (an organization dedicated to helping underprivileged Cambodian children via English education), I understand how valuable education is not only for individuals but for society as a whole, and I hope to play a part in helping people this way. In my free time, I love to play basketball, spend time with family and friends, and watch the NBA and NFL.

Math major at the University of Georgia with a 3.8 GPA. I am a certified math teacher for grades 6-12 and can teach virtually any math subject with tremendous knowledge in each area. I worked as a math tutor to fellow college students while attending UGA and have tutored math since my graduation in May 2016. After studying the student at the beginning of a session I adapt my teaching style to best for that particular student. I get along with everyone and just want my students to do the best they can.

I love to teach people new things and I enjoy learning new programming languages in my free time. Programming is an essential thing to learn or study because it improves your logical thought process and critical thinking skills. It also helps you improve your creativity. There are millions of ways to solve a problem, but it is finding the most efficient ways to solve a problem that will set you apart. My tutoring style is based on understanding concepts due to the fact that most languages share similar attributes. Vocabulary is also very important.I have obtained a Bachelors degree in Computer Science from North Carolina A&T State University and now work in the industry as a web developer. I tutor Computer Science related topics like Java and other Object-Oriented languages, as well as Study Skills and web development. I am also a percussionist and I play the sextuplets, snare, tonal drum, and drum set.
