I graduated Stephen F. Austin High School with a distinguished diploma and Cum Laude. Currently, I am studying at Texas A&M University to receive a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Arts in History. While studying at Austin High School, I tutored students in a one to one setting for Honors Chemistry I. I also tutored between six and ten students in a group setting for the U.S. History AP exam. Following graduation, I have tutored students in a one to one setting via Skype or in person over the topics mentioned earlier. Professionally, I have tutored children below the age of 8 in basic mathematics and reading comprehension, while also serving as an assignment grader and answer key maker.Overall, I enjoy teaching subjects ranging from the humanities and social sciences to fundamental math and science; however, I personally love to teach History and Writing due to their importance in the realm of personal and intellectual development. History is the story of how the world arrived at its present state, and it is filled with hard lessons and memories learned from those long past. Written language is one of mankind's greatest achievements, as it allows us to communicate with and pass on knowledge much farther than our voices can project, and much deeper than simple memory will allow. Taken together, these subjects give students the power to analyze and record their observations and stretch their creative talents. I believe that education, and specifically knowledge, is the first step towards removing ignorance and discord in our world, and I always try to impart that belief on my students through the Socratic Method; rather than giving the answer, I try to lead students in the right path, as the feeling of wonder when experiencing inspiration and discovery itself justifies the place of knowledge in personal development. In my spare time, aside from intellectual growth, I like to play video games, read good books, and watch movies from all genres. Also, spending time with family and friends can never be overemphasized.

I am a recent Chemistry Ph.D. graduate with a 7 month break before starting in my next role in management consulting. As the most enjoyable experiences of my career to date have been in teaching and mentoring, I am spending the intervening period tutoring!I received my Ph.D. in Chemistry from MIT, where I was a Presidential Fellow and a Dept. of Defense Graduate Fellow, and my B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University, Summa Cum Laude with Highest Thesis Honors. Over the course of my scientific research career I have produced 14 research publications, given 12 talks at international conferences, including the largest annual Physics, Chemistry, Materials, and Chemical Engineering conferences in the world, and have received 8 awards, totaling over $300k, specifically in recognition of my research accomplishments. As both an undergraduate and graduate student I have also taught, tutored, and mentored students. At MIT, I won a Graduate Teaching Award for thrice-weekly recitations of Intro Chemistry and Physical Chemistry at MIT; students consistently outperformed their peers in 5 other sections (higher average exam grades on all 4 exams and 9/12 pop quizzes, by an average margin of 5 grade points). As a graduate student, I have mentored over a dozen undergraduate students individually in their research, academics, career planning, and time/workflow management.Alongside my scientific career I have pursued an interest in business, leading to my pending employment as a Management Consultant. I took a full year of Management Science coursework at MIT's Sloan School of Management, including Microeconomics, Marketing, and Competitive Strategy. I applied that education to consulting engagement both freelance and through MIT. I have worked with a $16b Chinese state-owned enterprise on Sales force organization design, a $27b glass manufacturer on market entry into OLED lighting market, and a healthcare software startup on business model development. In those engagements I worked alongside graduate students from MIT and other international schools, and on several occasions presented findings to the senior management of the client firm.In addition to being a Native English speaker, I have studied Japanese for 7 years, including 3 years of college-level coursework and a 6 month stint working in Sales for a $17b semiconductor manufacturer in Japan. No matter what your background and challenges are as a student, I look forward to working together with you!

Hi! My aim is not just to teach your child how to "do" the work, but to also help them embrace the concepts as it relates to the world around them. Yes, I know that sounds lofty and sometimes you might be happy with just a better grade or test score. My belief is that if you understand "why" you are learning something (beyond the short term gratification) it makes the work and process of learning easier and more enjoyable. The goal of this approach is to enable the student to reach the measured (i.e. grades and test scores) levels of success faster and continue to want to learn going forward.A little about me: I am a graduate of the University of Michigan Ann Arbor and have a MBA from the Zicklin School of Business. I spent 17 years in advertising rising to the position of Executive Vice President of Account Planning (Strategic Planning). The part of loved most about my job was mentoring young members of my team and teaching my clients how to better connect with consumers. Thus I decided to shift my career to education. That of course is where tutoring came in. My specialties are math and business and I'm driven by helping and witnessing young people have those moments when they discover learning doesn't have to "suck."
