I am a graduate of The University of West Georgia where I was awarded a Bachelors degree in Philosophy. While in college, I tutored several students including home-schooled students and at-risk students. Since graduation, I have worked in the private sector as a real estate analyst and account manager. Upon entering education, I have continued to help students grow with a personable and unique style and approach. While I am able to tutor in Social Studies, Math and Science, working with Middle School students has been a particular interest. In my experience helping struggling students prepare for testing, we always seem to have the most fun (with remarkable advancements) with basic application of skills which help in lifelong learning. I am an avid proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, running, the outdoors and anything involving water. I enjoy the occasional video game and movie as well. I look forward to helping parents and students see great results from our sessions.

I have been teaching 20 years. I am able to teach and help students understand things they never have understood before in Spanish, beginning Algebra 1, and English as a second language. It is my passion to help students succeed and feel confident in their abilities. For over 20 years, my career has been devoted to working with students with disabilities. Being a special education teacher has always been my career goal. I am a graduate of Mercer University with a degree in Specific Learning Disabilities. My classroom experience includes teaching students with reading-based and language-based disabilities as well as those with intellectual disabilities, autism, ADHD, and emotional behavior disorders. Beyond the classroom, my advanced degrees in special education leadership have allowed me to coach and support special education classroom teachers to achieve success with their students. Providing specially designed instruction to meet the unique learning needs of students is my passion, and my measure of achievement is teaching students to use strategies to support independence and progress towards their learning tasks and goals. Seeing students set personal goals and supporting their achievement brings me joy. My M.Div. is from Cordon Conwell Theological Seminary.I have two master's degrees and a bachelor's degree. I also completed a three-week course (the New Jersey Writing Project) that trained me teach creative writing. I am an educator at heart and a scientist by discipline. I caught the teaching bug as an Undergraduate student working as a Teacher's Assistant. The IMPACT program gave me my first opportunity to work with young students, and I loved it. I was honored by the program as an Awesome Science Mentor, leading chemistry, geography, and geology lab activities. After I received my degree I worked as an Intern at a learning center. I worked as a counselor and workshop leader for 5th-12th graders. I continued my work there as the first Sustainable Agriculture Intern for the facility, building the infrastructure for future interns. Working as an educator is something I am passionate about. After three years and 1500 hours of experience as a College Reading and Language Association Level 3 Master Tutor for the University of West Georgia, and several hundred hours of tutoring k-12 students, I have had the time to develop and hone my teaching methods and techniques to best suit every individual I tutor. Many people do not realize that changing something as simple as their note taking technique can allow for more understanding of the material as it is presented by the teacher or professor, and understanding this material as it is presented makes it easier to learn and review. The all-encompassing approach I utilize during a tutoring session maximizes time-management techniques, study skills, note taking, and many other useful skills you should understand when learning new information presented by an instructor whether they use books, Power Point slide shows, essays, or any other medium teachers and professors use to pass along their lessons to students.The reason I began tutoring as a Sophomore at UWG was because I really enjoy the look on somebody's face when they grasp a concept they once thought would be impossible to comprehend.
