I graduated from the University of California, Davis with a M.S. in Chemistry and from Southern Oregon University with a B.S. in Chemistry. I'm currently a Ph.D student in Chemistry at University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. As an undergraduate student, I discovered my passion for learning and teaching students. While I've tutor many different subject areas such as statistics and organic chemistry, my expertise is general chemistry and algebra. I know chemistry and algebra are hard subjects to learn, but I believe it can be fun to learn about and a major accomplishment to comprehend difficult concepts. My goal as a tutor is to make sure you leave each session with a better grasp of the material from which you started, and for you to hopefully think chemistry and math are cool too.

My personal happiness comes from helping others and serving our communities. Because I have skills in mathematics, I have been able to help thousands of students increase their academic self confidence in this subject.I have a passion for mathematics, and I pursue it. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Southern Oregon University with a certification in Secondary Education. I continue to take graduate courses in Mathematics with over twenty-seven units of graduate math and math education courses. It was in Environmental Science that the University of North Texas awarded me a Master of Science. This is my avocation, I care about the world and what happens to all things. I am interested in how everything connects. My education has afforded me the opportunity to work both in the United States and internationally. After teaching high school math for two years in Medford, Oregon, I joined the Peace Corps. I was fortunate to accept a placement in Papua New Guinea, where I completed my two-year contract and was head teacher before leaving. Following that experience, I became a math specialist for the non-profit educational organization, Project SEED. At Project SEED I delivered Socratic group discovery lessons and wrote and delivered professional development seminars. In this role, I worked alongside teachers and administrators to ensure that students were engaged and excited about math. When I began graduate school I took a position with Karen Dillard's College Prep. There I wrote curriculum and acted as a director for a tutoring business. Both in that position and my subsequent consulting business, I was able to teach students how to master college entrance exams. I trained new teachers and wrote and updated curriculum. During this time, I also took on adjunct work at the Art Institute of Dallas. There I taught college students remedial math and environmental science. My most recent experience was international. I have taught mathematics in both the UAE and in Sweden. In all the positions, I was able to share my passion for teaching with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and colleagues.I specialize in inquiry-based teaching and have embraced the philosophy of growth mindset as I explore what motivates students to learn.

Through tutoring in college I began to love tutoring and making light bulbs go off in students mathematical learning. I was a full time high school math teacher in Northern California for two years, but came to realise that I missed the individual attention that tutoring gives.Math is not an easy subject for many individuals, and with the new common core standards many students are seeing their math brains being stretched in multiple ways. I aim to break down math material into small comprehensible pieces for students to understand.
