The ACT is stressful, but there are some really easy steps and strategies to make it more approachable. At times, it's more important to know how to take the test than know what's going to be on it.

I am very excited to give maximum effort to build relationships and inspire an interest in learning.
I am a recent graduate of Rhodes College, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience with a minor in Chemistry and English. After graduation, I have remained close to academia by auditing classes in the areas of Anatomy and Physiology, Organ Systems, Histology, Embryology, and Neuroscience. My introduction to tutoring first occurred in my second year of high school. I tutored in all math courses, English (including college essay writing), all science courses, and test preparation. Furthermore, I also worked with elementary- and middle-school age children on social skills outside the classroom as well as all subjects inside the classroom. Throughout college, I found my niche in tutoring test preparation and science, leading to my recommendation to serve as an Introductory Biology Teaching Assistant for three years at my undergraduate institution. My passion for the areas of Science, English, and Math are reflected in my tutoring experiences. I have developed a variety of techniques to tackle each of these challenging and very different subjects, and I find that my students enjoy the tools I use to help them understand difficult concepts in a more relatable manner!Lifelong learning is of utmost importance to me, and I firmly believe that having faith in the future of my students leads to their success. The feeling of seeing my students developing independence and intellect over the course of tutoring sessions is something indescribably wonderful. In my free time, I enjoy cooking/baking, reading, playing basketball, and painting.
Whether you're here to pass a test or go deeper, I'll help you understand how government actually works. We'll focus on real understanding not just memorization so you leave more confident, more curious, and more capable.
As a Computer Science student in the process of pursuing a PhD, I know how important it is to understand the ins-and-outs of your classes. Not only will you be better off understanding the deeper meanings, but you might also find your passion with learning. If that is not the case, it's all good, I enjoy practical applications but I also enjoy the theory behind things. If you are having trouble understanding specific subjects or yo u just want some clarification I am happy to help.
I want to show my students the joy of learning, as cliche as that might sound. I guess this stems from my own love of learning, but tutoring lets me share this love in a one-on-one, individual scenario. Seeing as my desired career is to be a college professor, tutoring allows me to get an early edge on my teaching skills as well.
I was born and raised in Memphis, TN, where eventually I went to earn a BS at Rhodes College. After struggling between dual my loves of science and literature, I graduated in 2014 with a degree in Biology with a minor in English. I participated in several research projects studying animal behavior during and after college before I became interested in pursuing a career in environmental education. For half the year, I work full time as a park ranger providing education and visitor services seasonally at national parks and public lands. I teach curriculum-based education to visiting schools, and I answer general questions to the public, on topics ranging from ecology, geology, and history, to where to find the bathrooms.I have worked as a personal tutor since high school, teaching a variety of subjects to all ages of students.Since college between my seasonal positions of work, I have created full time work for myself for students on summer vacation, teaching math, writing, English, and science to students in elementary, middle, and high school. When I tutor, I'm hoping to empower students to think and analyze to find their own solutions. I don't want to show them the right way to do things, but rather the right way for THEM to do things. Our brains work differently, and we find the same right answers in different ways!Like your typical millennial, I enjoy traveling, but I've really made a full time life of it. Since college, I haven't lived in one place longer than 7 months. My seasonal homes have included Tennessee, North Carolina, California, Wyoming, South Africa, and the coast of Oregon. My primary recreational activity in all of these places is hiking, and I've been lucky to live in some beautiful natural spaces for outdoor recreation. When I'm not working or hiking, I'm reading, writing, sleeping, or trying to learn to learn how to be a decent cook.
My name is Jackson, and I have a passion for math and physics (I know, super nerdy). I graduated with a Bachelor's in Physics and a minor in mathematics, and I love helping students understand concepts in both these fields. I have one year of tutoring experience in college/AP-level physics and math (particularly calculus), and I tutor all levels of math and physics. I am a firm believer that there is no such thing as a "math" person. Math and Science are for everyone! That being said, I know these topics can be intimidating to many. I aim to help students understand the foundations of these subjects and prepare them to be better STEM learners.
As a physics major with a passion for particle physics, I am deeply interested in exploring the theoretical and universal aspects of both physics and math. I have over 100 hours of tutoring experience, during which I've helped students navigate these challenging subjects. Whether working with foundational concepts or advanced problems, I aim to simplify complex ideas and make them accessible to every student. My tutoring philosophy is centered on identifying the root cause of any misunderstanding and addressing it at its core. By breaking down abstract concepts into digestible steps, I help students build a strong foundation and confidence in their abilities. I believe that anyone can excel in these subjects with patience and the right approach. Outside of academics, I enjoy climbing, crocheting, baking, and skatingactivities that keep me balanced and motivated. These interests help me bring a creative and problem-solving mindset to my tutoring sessions, encouraging students to stay curious and engaged as they work towards their academic goals.
I graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee in May of 2022. I was an Educational Studies and History double major with a French minor. As an education major, I was a part of a wide variety of classrooms from elementary math to high school history. Currently, I am studying Spanish in Mexico after two years teaching English in Guadeloupe, France to sharpen my foreign language skills and ESL teaching capabilities in preparation for multilingual and multicultural educational spaces. Upon my return to the United States, I will pursue my teaching license in secondary history. Thus, I am passionate about teaching History, English, and French. I also excel at teaching and academic writing. In addition to my experience guiding students in traditional classrooms, I have taught yoga for the past two years. This has involved planning classes for large groups in addition to providing personal assists to students throughout their practice. With my experience teaching others in both the traditional academic classroom and the nontraditional yoga classroom, I have learned there is no better way to assist others in their growth than meeting individuals exactly where they are. As a result, my teaching and tutoring styles are designed to capitalize upon what students already know so that they may build upon said knowledge and achieve more. Further, my teaching and tutoring are based on our humanity as people and thus there is plenty of conversation, inquiry, and room for mistakes. I believe education is an opportunity for creating possibilities, and as such I couldn't be more grateful to help others imagine their future possibilities.
Hello! I am thrilled to be your tutor and so excited to see what ideas and questions you have for me. I am a visual learner, and I like to break problems down to understand basic concepts and develop a better understanding of the bigger picture. I am a Junior at Rhodes College pursuing a Biology degree on the pre-med track! :)
Experienced in literature and writing content, I love working one-on-one with students to improve their writing. Whether it's a college essay or ELA paper, I utilize a variety of tactics to help students execute their ideas effectively on paper.
