I love to help and encourage kids who are struggling. Anyone can learn if they have a little help!I have a bachelor's degree in education, with hours in gifted education as well. I was a public school teacher for 10 years, but I have been tutoring individuals for over 45 years-- since I was 15 years old. I have worked with kids as young as preschool and as old as high school, but my focus has been mostly on elementary and middle school aged students. I am excellent with kids who are reluctant or don't like school at all. My focus is on finding their strengths and using those to help their weaknesses.Besides teaching and tutoring, I am a published choral composer, with over 25 pieces in publication at this time. I love all forms of music. I also love to play tennis, and when I'm not teaching or composing, you will find me on the tennis court.I am excited about each new student I meet, and I can't wait to meet your child next!
My name is Sydney, and I recently graduated from a masters degree at the University of Cambridge. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature and am set to begin a PhD program in English in the fall. I have tutored students at the college level for several years, and I believe the most important thing is learning to enjoy the craft of writing while developing your skills. A capable grasp of language is the most important tool in your arsenal for moving through the world with professionalism, sincerity, and skill. I am an aspiring actress with a love of learning. I hope to share this love with every student I encounter. I attended Ouachita Baptist University where I worked towards a degree in theater. I have experience tutoring a fifth grade girl, and I've always been helping my friends with their homework and helping them study for tests. I tutor English, History, Geography, ACT Prep, and Math. I enjoy all the subjects I tutor. I teach with love and encouragement, helping the student to see and realize their potential. My hobbies include acting, reading, taking walks, and spending time with my friends and family.
I have been teaching for 19 years. I currently teach first grade but have experience teaching all ages of elementary school.
