I have been a private tutor in English, Science and Math with 20 years experience. I teach children of all ages both inside and outside the classroom. I have been an ESL online teacher with VipKid for 6 years teaching Chinese students age 3-18 English. I taught English at a private bilingual school grades K-4 in person for 4 years in Portland, Oregon. I am currently a 4th grade teacher for the public school charter teaching 4th grade curriculum. I have my Bachelors in Applied Mathematics from Oregon Institute of Technology and Masters in Statistics from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I have worked after grad school for 6 years, in some different industries and companies. I have experience as a teaching assistant, where I taught Statistics to graduate level students in different majors. That is where I learned to try and relate the material to the students own distinct disciplines. When I am not working or tutoring, I usually am watching sports on TV or golfing. I also enjoy to work out and cook in spare time.

I am currently an undergraduate student at Oregon Institute of Technology in the Biology Health Sciences program. In high school, my favorite subjects were English and history, but I became interested in the sciences at the beginning of my collegiate career. With that being said, I have a variety of interests that help to make me well rounded tutor. I am very patient and willing to adapt to the needs of each individual student that I work with. With over 16 years of experience in diagnostic medical sonography, I bring a deep passion for the field and a strong commitment to student success. I graduated in 2009 from Cuyahoga Community College and am credentialed by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in multiple specialties, including OB/GYN, Abdomen (RDMS), Vascular (RVT), and Fetal Echocardiography (RDCS-FE). My career began in general ultrasound, but I quickly found my niche in maternal-fetal medicine, where I spent several years specializing in high-risk obstetrics. In 2021, I expanded my skill set to include pediatric and fetal echocardiography, with a focus on congenital heart disease a field I currently work in and continue to learn from every day. In parallel with my clinical work, I've spent the past 15 years teaching and mentoring sonography students, residents, and fellows. I've consistently been told that I excel at breaking down complex concepts into clear, understandable lessons. My teaching philosophy is centered around simplicity and visual learning I believe that when students can see how the anatomy and pathology come together, true understanding follows. I know how overwhelming the amount of information in sonography can be, especially when preparing for ARDMS boards. Having personally taken and passed the SPI, ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, and RDCS-FE exams, I know what it takes to succeed. I focus on helping students categorize pathologies and build confidence in their ability to master the material. Sonography isn't just a career for me it's a lifelong passion. I genuinely love every specialty, but my favorite subjects to teach are OB/GYN and fetal echocardiography. It's a privilege to help the next generation of sonographers develop their skills, grow their confidence, and fall in love with this profession as I have.

My name is Alison, and my mom is a teacher, so throughout my life, I've been around various schools and I've learned a lot about teaching through her and her classrooms. I'm very passionate about math, it is my favorite subject by far. I've known so many people who don't share the same skill or the same disposition towards it, because most math teachers don't truly understand the underlying principles, or how differently kids learn. No matter how good you can be at something, if you've had bad teachers it'll never come to you as easy as one who actually works with you.I've never been the type of person to have perfect grades due to ADD and I used to struggle with teachers like that too. But after realizing I had it and doing everything I needed to I have such a good handle on it that I often immerse myself in learning things for hours if it grabs my interest. Now I find myself explaining subjects to friends in real life to help people understand (even if they didn't ask for it).In summary, I know how much harder it can be for some students to learn certain things, according to circumstances, and before anything else, I will find the best way to explain a subject to you personally. Everyone learns differently, and that's the most important thing to keep students from struggling.I will help you in anyway I can, even if that is just homework or practice test help
