I have been speaking and continually learning French for 4 years. I started at the university level. I spent a total of 6 months in France learning at a French University.I hold a Diplme d'tudes en Langue Franaise level B2 that is good for life. I believe learning another language is not a sprint, but rather a marathon.

As a social worker turned educator, I have been working with children in various settings for almost 30 years. With a focus on Special Education I have worked in early childhood settings as well as the school system for almost 15 years with students who have Autism, Down Syndrome, Dyslexia/Dysgraphia and who were also hard of hearing before choosing to teach 1:1 online full time since 2019. Learning the basics of curriculums is key to teaching students online. I enjoy diving into the Orton Gillngham approach, Singapore Math, Good and the Beautiful as well as many of the state tests. I love seeing how all students are unique and possess their own learning styles. My focus is on the needs of each student and to help them learn at the pace that is right for them.

As a dedicated tutor with a Doctorate in Computer Science from North Dakota State University, I am passionate about helping students master Microsoft Excel. Although I have experience in tutoring for less than a year, I focus on creating a supportive learning environment that fosters individual growth and academic success. My teaching philosophy centers on tailoring my approach to meet each student's unique needs, ensuring they gain both confidence and competence in their skills. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy exploring technology trends and participating in coding challenges, which enrich my understanding and ability to engage students effectively.

A lifelong learner, my heroes have always been my teachers. Now my goal is to be that person for today's students. I returned to school after a business career and earned my PhD. For the past 5 years, teaching and tutoring math and statistics students within the Minnesota State colleges and universities system has been both challenging and satisfying. Helping students overcome their math frustration is a highlight. These subjects are not for everyone. However, it seems reasonable that successful learning comes when tutoring complements individual interests and educational goals. Some people aspire to win an Olympic medal; scientific minds would like a Nobel Prize; and those who like more drama, seek an Academy Award. I graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in statistics and double minor in mathematics and computer science. I have seven years of experience tutoring students in middle school, high school, and college. My goal is to help students develop their math abilities by strengthening their problem-solving skills and improving their study habits. I aim to accomplish this goal by assisting students to break down academic concepts into understandable pieces. My tutoring style encourages students to solidify new concepts by checking over their work. When students are able to catch mistakes, they are less likely to make them again in the future. The reflective nature of my tutoring style regards mistakes as an opportunity for growth.

I am super excited to help anyone out! I am currently a high school teacher of biology and love helping students out. I got my teaching degree at NDSU. I realized that I would love to be able to reach more people outside of my area and help them out when needed especially with everything crazy going on in the world. I love teaching for the moments when students finally understand something and it clicks together. I love making personal connections and getting to know people for more than just their academics as I believe everyone is a person before anything else.
