B.S. Elementary Education (2011) McNeese State University Library Media Specialist Certification (2023) McNeese State University I have had the opportunity to teach pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, first, second, third, and fifth grades all subjects and on a departmentalized campus in Louisiana and Texas. I am in my 15th year of education and am completing my fourth year as an elementary(kindergarten-fifth grade) librarian. I love being an elementary librarian because this allows me the opportunity to introduce foundational literacy skills and initiatives that I integrate across various subjects and topics in a fun and engaging manner that incorporates traditional classroom learning with virtual technology.
I am a graduate of McNeese State University, where I received a B.A. in English. My focus was on World Literature. In college, I volunteered in the English resource center, where I tutored students from all over the globe. I enjoyed helping them with their English and interacting with different cultures. After graduation, I obtained my ESL certification. I taught at La Familia Resource Center, where I developed and taught ESL courses. Working with both children and adults to help them learn English was very satisfying! In 2015, I began working online as an English tutor. I have taught over 30 thousand classes online. I feel passionate about helping people learn and improve their English. The joy in teaching comes when a student's face lights up because they have accomplished what they thought was beyond their ability. I love helping students get to that point! In my free time, I enjoy reading, cooking, doing seasonal crafts, and taking my dog to the dog park.
My goal with students is to help them understand their strengths to achieve an understanding of the materials while utilizing their unique learning styles.

After more than fifteen years teaching high school and college American history, I find that some students either need or want additional help/instruction after the school bell rings. I have tutored students for the last 7 years in small group or one and one to help them master certain aspects of history: content, skill based, or test-taking strategies.I specialize in US History with emphasis on writing for standardized tests and AP exams. I have a MA in History from McNeese State University and I am AP certified, Social Studies 7-12 certified, and I am an AP reader for the College Board. I have years of training on AP US History writing styles and rubrics.I believe in meeting students where they are academically and helping them understand content and writing skills to pass classes and/or tests. I love American History and also hope to help students learn to love it....or at least tolerate it a bit more.
I have six years of education experience across subjects such as English rhetoric, ESL, and, of course, test prep. My teaching philosophy centers on fostering a growth mindset. I believe every student has the potential to excel when given the right tools, encouragement, and strategies. My tutoring style is interactive and adaptive; I use a combination of direct instruction, guided practice, and creative exercises to keep students engaged. I also emphasize the importance of critical thinking and self-reflection, helping students develop skills that go beyond the classroom. Outside of academia, I enjoy volunteering, traveling, shopping, and reading . These activities allow me to recharge and bring fresh perspectives to my teaching. I find that engaging in diverse interests helps me connect with students on a personal level, creating a more well-rounded and enjoyable learning experience.
