I hold a current K-8 teaching license and have a Master of Education from Marymount University. I have continued my education by completing coursework in a Graduate Professional Endorsement in Reading, Literacy and Learning from Longwood University. I most recently (Aug 2023 through May 2024) completed coursework in LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) through Lexia and a Graduate course from the American College of Education. I have eight years of experience as a classroom teacher (and on-line during the pandemic). But I have many more years of experience, including reading intervention through the public schools and private tutoring. I love to teach! It is my passion! It is my purpose! Reading intervention is key to unlocking their comprehension skills. It is hard to comprehend what is being read if the reader is struggling with decoding the words being read. My students have taken assessments where they fell far below the state assessment benchmark in the Fall to exceeding the state assessment benchmark in the Spring! I will provide a scope and sequence reading program that incorporates the current findings from the science of reading. The scope and sequence that I use can be found on the University of Florida Literacy Institute's (UFLI) website. I recently completed my fourteen-week student teaching internship in which I taught 9th grade and 12th grade Social Studies. I also worked as a tutor for the past year with a student with intellectual disabilities. In this position, I visited her twice a week after school to work on study skills, organizational habits, and her English and History homework. I am a great tutor because I have wonderful organizational skills, patience, and a good sense of humor. I am also skilled at viewing basic knowledge from many different angles and enjoy finding different ways of teaching to break down these concepts to the student.

I am a recent graduate from a masters program in biostatistics at Columbia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences, with a focus in neurobiology at Northwestern University. In August, I will be starting a doctoral program in biostatistics at NYU. I was a teaching assistant at Columbia University in my department and also have tutored graduate students and undergraduates privately as well. My primary areas of tutoring are math and statistics coursework in addition to math sections on standardized tests such as the GRE and GMAT. I am a graduate of Washington University in St Louis, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in History with minors in Humanities and Anthropology. I'm Solange - a recent graduate from Harvard where I studied Sociology & Women's Studies. I've been tutoring for eight years now, and have worked with a wide range of ages and in a wide range of subjects. I am a junior Mechanical Engineering major at Yale, and I hope to become a Naval Aviator after college. I am also a varsity sailor, and enjoy playing music with friends when I can get some free time. I have been tutoring my fellow students throughout my entire academic career, and I would best describe my tutoring style as one that adapts to each students' needs. For example, I have always tried to frame questions in a different way so that the student can better understand the question.
