I've been fascinated with cameras since I was a kid. But when I took my first darkroom class in college, I fell in love. It's so magical watching a photo appear in the development tray. I love shooting film. Its inherently limited nature makes you slow down and appreciate the process. My goal is to share my 15+ years of digital and film photography experience with you and set you up on a path of success. Film, and especially darkroom, can seem mysterious, but we'll navigate the path together!
I hold a B.A. in English with a focus on writing from John Brown University. I also hold an Associate's Degree in Applied Science with a focus on Early Childhood Education. Additionally, I hold a TESOL/TESL/TEFL Certificate from Oxford Seminars. During my degree program at John Brown University, I worked at the writing center for two semesters, where I tutored students who required additional assistance with their academic writing. I enjoy helping students succeed in their classes, regardless of their field of study. In addition to this, I worked as a staff member for John Brown's literary journal called Shards of Light, where I decided with a group of other staff writers to reject or accept pieces of literature, such as poetry, creative nonfiction, and artwork, that students at John Brown University submitted to Shards of Light. Also, in one of my writing classes, I submitted several pieces of creative nonfiction writing to three academic journals. I also learned how to diagram sentences.

I graduated from John Brown University with a Bachelor's degree in Broadcasting. I have spent most of my professional career working in youth-oriented radio as an on-air host, though I have also worked as a substitute teacher in the past. As a broadcaster, published author, and ready writing medalist, I have a passion for effective communication. I believe in celebrating small achievements and building on incremental gains to reach goals. I particularly enjoy tutoring essay writing and algebra II.
I became a teacher because I love teaching and helping students learn. I have taught 1st grade, 4th grade, 5th grade, 7th grade and 8th grade. I have spent 23 years working in the public school system. After teaching for 9 years, I went back to school and became a school counselor, because I felt the need to help students at a more social and emotional level. I have a Bachelor's Degree and 2 Master's Degrees, one in Education and one in Counseling from John Brown University in Siloam Springs, AR. I have the ability to tutor all subjects in Elementary and I specialize in English and Language Arts 5th-8th grades. I have a been tutoring since high school, and I have a passion for helping people, which is why I am majoring in Psychology. Psychology combines my aptitude in math and science with my love of people.In middle school, I taught violin and piano lessons to beginners.
