I have enjoyed teaching and specifically one-one-one or small group tutoring since my senior year of high school when I first became a peer tutor. I enjoyed, and still enjoy, the freedom which tutoring gives to personally craft lessons and assistance to an individual student and their abilities or difficulties. Because of this, I continued to tutor throughout my four years of college, mostly tutoring peer college students through a program at my school, Eastern University. I also tutored students in Philadelphia at Eastern’s sister school, Esperanza College. After graduating from Eastern with Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Spanish and Political Science, I continued my experience as an educator by living in Guatemala teaching and tutoring Guatemalan students in English. Though I enjoy tutoring a range of subject, my love of language and desire to learn a third one has given me a special passion for working with students studying Spanish as well as working on English assignments, from literature to essay editing and grammar. This lifelong learner attitude gives me an eagerness to learn from my students, both from their creativity as well as how to improve my teaching techniques as I discover their various learning styles. I hope to formally continue my own education soon by earning my Masters degree in education so that I can better serve those whom I will be teaching.

For the past three years, I have taught AP American Government & Politics at one of Philadelphia's highest performing public high schools. My students have consistently excelled on the AP Exam due to the high degree of academic rigor I employ. I have also been selected as an AP Reader. As such, I was given the opportunity to travel to Salt Lake City to grade the written portions of the AP Exam. In 2013, I was awarded the Lindback Award for Outstanding Teaching.

I believe that the world is made of Mathematics. Everything in the world can be represented in Mathematical form. My studies in Mathematics at O level and A level have supported my interest in this subject and have shown me a broad new world of Mathematics. In particular, I enjoyed studying calculus and coordinate geometry. It motivated me to follow B.Sc., a special degree (4 years) in Mathematics and this course brought to a dreaming world. I was excited to find that Mathematical techniques could be used to solve real life problems.In addition to retaining a strong interest in Mathematics, and my postgraduate degree in Industrial Mathematics offered me how to use mathematical techniques to solve industrial problems. This program offered 27 advanced Mathematics courses which focused applying mathematics, computer science, and statistics, and management courses for solving industrial problems. I enjoyed many subjects on this program. In particular, Finite element Technique for solving Partial Differential Equations, Operations Research, Matrix Algebra, Mathematical Methods, Econometrics, C++ programming etc. The program impressed me to expand my studies to engineering domain. During that time, I worked as a faculty in Applied Science School which offered BSc degree in Mathematics and computing and I taught undergraduate students in this school for 18 years, and I was attracted to my fascination for computers has also grown. It was easy to use and quite interesting to find out that programming language is an algorithm designed for computers to carry tasks quickly. The joint course was really interesting. I realized that there are no computers without Mathematics. I understood what computer science consists of and its importance in our fast developing world. I decided to follow my Ph.D. degree in Computing and my thesis introduces a novel algorithm for flexible mesh generator. I certainly sure, it was possible as I had been trained my brain to think mathematically or logically. I am being helped so many ways in my academic career. For example, I can develop any mathematics theorem/results into the algorithmic format and write relevant graphics programming coding (C++/Matlab) for visualizing the result. Anyone can enjoy with this as the visual representation is easy to understand the complex mathematics concepts. The knowledge in Mathematics and Computing gives me a broad range of skills and expertise which I use to solve multifaceted problems.It is true that having a Joint Honors Degree in Mathematics and Computing gives me transferable skills which I could use in a variety of careers. I am proud of my achievements and am open minded. I intend to approach the future positively. I will encounter new opportunities, make new friends and continue to my academic career!

I graduated from Eastern University with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Teaching English as a Second Language. Along the way, I earned my PA Instructional I Teacher Certification for Spanish (PK-12) and a Program Specialist Certification for ESL (PK-12). I also have a Trauma Informed Professional Certification from the Lakeside Global Institute, which really shapes the way I support and connect with students. I've worked with students in lots of different settings and age groups--- from infants to adults! Each experience has taught me something new. I even got to study abroad in Spain my junior year to improve my skills! For the last 8 years, I have been working in a variety of schools in varying capacities ranging from aide to head teacher; from 4th through 12th grade and from the inner city, to suburbia to international. Each of them have been a great experience and have given me an interesting perspective on education. I love working one on one with motivated students who just need to find a way to understand their material in a way that they might not have had at their current school. I can use many different tools and strategies to help students understand different concepts and topics that are both current and interesting to students. I have yet to meet a student who I haven't been able to help in some way and I will never stop trying to help a student succeed. I am currently working as an Environmental Educator through SCA at Watkins Glen State Park in NYS. I graduated from Eastern University with honors, earning my Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Environmental Science and a focus in animal conservation. Since I graduated I have worked in the Adirondacks in NYS working with injured animals, at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary in PA studying the migration of birds of prey, and for Conservation Corps in Iowa studying the migration of the Northern Long Eared bat. My diverse work experience and public interactions allows me to connect with a range of people with different backgrounds and needs.I am intrigued by all realms of science, but have a special affinity to wildlife biology. It is immensely satisfying for me as a tutor when I am able to help a student connect all of their basic knowledge of science to understand more complex branches. I grew up in a school that didn't believe in adjusting to student learning styles. I always felt like I was stupid because I struggled every year, while my classmates seemed to understand everything I couldn't! Turns out, I had undiagnosed ADHD! Now, diagnosed in my 30s, and with 3 children of my own, I work hard to advocate for creativity and student empowerment in classrooms. Learning doesn't HAVE to be a struggle! Learning SHOULD be fun! I know first hand how hard it is to try and force your brain to absorb information in ways it simply isn't designed to. So, my goal is to break that cycle, to inject positivity, hope, creativity, and passion into learning. Every student deserve the chance to learn and grow in the way that makes sense to THEM! I am currently retired after many years in the Information Technology field. I am very excited to be sharing my knowledge and experience with others. I have a passion for learning and for helping others to learn new skills and improve their current skills. I have a bachelor's degree in management of information systems from Eastern University and a lot of experience in information technology, project management, and teaching. I have worked for companies of various sizes in many industries. I have extensive experience using Microsoft Office applications as well as experience helping others increase their abilities. For the last 2 years I worked at a small private school where I was actively involved in tutoring K-12 students in various subjects focusing on Mathematics, English, Literature, History, and Geography. I absolutely love tutoring because I enjoy seeing students succeed and feel more comfortable with the subject matter.
