I'm a former Ivy League math professor who still loves the subject and loves working with students. I find that what typically limits students' understanding is that they just haven't (yet!) seen a clear explanation that just makes sense for them. In the month of August 2014, I proposed to a friend my idea of creating an NGO by the name Theory of Change that aims at eradicating one of the pressing issues of India today: poor sanitation and hygiene. I was able to create an official NGO that visits government schools regularly, imparting knowledge of the importance of proper hygienic conditions. With help pouring in from friends and the rest of the team, together we were able to create Theory of Change that has raised $6000 in funds for these schools. I also participate in numerous other social activities including volunteering at government hospitals, with an NGO Happy as well as monthly sessions on women empowerment through a circle I created inspired by Lean In Circles. I see myself as an overachiever because along with striving towards academic excellence, I am able to juggle multiple extra curricular activities ably shining in dance, swimming and volunteer work.

I graduated from Muhlenberg College with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience. I am currently finishing my Master in Medical Sciences at Brown University before I begin medical school this fall. I have always really enjoyed working with young people; I volunteered in the children's department of my local library for several years, tutored elementary schoolers while in high school, helped coach youth cheer for a few years, and taught a class at a local middle school this past semester. While I tutor a variety of subjects, I am most passionate about Math and Sciences, and especially love using pictures and short video clips to help strengthen students' understanding of the concepts. I'm an incoming sophomore at Brown University studying Applied Mathematics-Economics, and math has always been one of the subjects I enjoy most. I scored a 790 on the SAT Math section, but what I'm most proud of is the work it took to get there. I had to learn how to slow down, spot patterns in my mistakes, and understand exactly why I was losing points. That process is a big part of how I tutor. I'm a recent graduate from Brown University where I studied Linguistics and French. I teach French at all levels, including AP and SAT subject test prep. I started learning French when I was 5 and it's been an important part of my life so I hope to help others appreciate the language as much as I do! (the company behind writing the SAT, APs, and GREs), where I wrote test questions for the TOEFL Junior (a test of English for foreign elementary and middle school students).My other teaching experiences include full-time one-on-one tutoring at a company called Lindamood-Bell, where I coached students ranging from ages 5-21 in reading and reading comprehension. I am a student at Brown University, where I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in psychology. I employ a student-centered approach to tutoring, grounding the session in the student's knowledge of what topics it would be most beneficial to review. I typically begin a session by asking a student if there is any material they have learned since the previous session whose reasoning they would like for me to walk them through. I have been tutoring since 2016, and I have experience teaching math, science, language arts, history, French, and study skills to students in elementary, middle, and high school. I currently focus on math (pre-algebra, algebra, geometry), English, test prep, and essay writing.

I am an economics student at Brown University and recently completed a government-funded exchange year in Germany through the CBYX scholarship. My goal is to help you or your child make the most out of your time and learn in the ways suited to you!

Hi! I am French American , born and raised near Paris and with a bachelor's degree from Brown University. I have been tutoring and teaching French for a while now and hope to continue sharing my love for the French language and culture with students for many more years to come! I love traveling, learning, and teaching.

I graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience, Magna Cum Laude, and as a member of the Sigma Xi Honor Society. I've been tutoring since I was in high school, and have tutored students from elementary school through college. I am very passionate about teaching material in a way that works with each student's personal learning needs and making sure that they understand the material at its core, not just how to answer a test question. Because I majored in Neuroscience, I have expertise in a wide range of sciences, as Neuroscience is a very interdisciplinary subject. I have also had extensive experience in Computer Science. Outside of Neuroscience, I devoted a lot of time to studying the humanities. I even started a blog my junior year as an outlet to further pursue these academic interests! As a result, I also enjoy tutoring in Literature, English, and Writing.Outside of tutoring and academia, I am a professional dancer and choreographer. I also work on other artists' websites to make sure their sites are the best they can be, along with other arts administration work. In my spare time, I also practice aerial silks, and you'll occasionally catch me working on my handstands in Central Park.

In high school, I graduated Salutatorian at a Nassau County public high school with a 106 weighted GPA and 11 AP exams. I continued my education at an Ivy League institution where I became deeply interested in education as a teacher. For me, learning has always been a personal and individualized endeavor, and I believe that is how we all learn best. After all, no two students are alike. By providing a comfortable demeanor coupled with expert knowledge of the subject area, I can help a student learn in the best way possible. My favorite subjects are and have always been foreign languages (particularly Spanish and French), math, and writing mechanics. I am also very familiar with all aspects of the college admissions process, including essays and the SATs.

I wasn't used to listening. In high school, my flair for the dramatic led me to the stage: I was comfortable there in front of audiences, filling auditoriums with my voice. And so, when I arrived at Brown University, I thought teaching would be a natural extension of my inner (and, to the occasional dismay of friends, outer) thespian. When I stood in front of my first classroom, teaching English during a sweltering Providence summer to ten eight year-olds, I realized that not even my loudest volume could bring order. And so, I began to learn what my teachers throughout schooling had implicitly taught me: listening to and building relationships with students is perhaps the most essential tool in a teacher's arsenal.Throughout my time at Brown, I lent my ear to various different teaching opportunities, learning to know when to lead, and when to step back and be led. As a tutor with Brown Refugee Youth Tutoring and Enrichment, I met with Yonas, a fourteen year-old from Guinea, to help him with scholarship applications. He was confounded by the prompt: "describe yourself." Together, we worked to clarify what that meant to craft a narrative that would help him succeed. He got that scholarship, and the essay he wrote, though informed by conversations with me, was all his: it was his story, his words, and his voice. Later, I taught German to sleepy undergrads. In the classroom with twelve students, I balanced teaching a lesson at the front of the classroom with walking through the desks, observing, questioning, and facilitating conversation. In my weekly office hours, I sat one-on-one with students, encouraging them to come with questions or just a thirst for conversation: in the lobby of the school library (my "office"), I sat for hours with my students, discussing everything from the subjunctive to our favorite kinds of wurst.My approach to tutoring is much the same: my sessions are personally tailored to each individual tutee's needs and interests. I am a firm believer that learning is not static it must be informed by a mutual exchange between tutor and tutee: learning not just the "why" of a question, but also the "how."

As a Brown University graduate, I've used my experiences to help students get into the nation's top colleges and scholarships. I previously served as an Advising Fellow for Matriculate for nearly two years, with my advisees receiving offers from Cornell, Northwestern, USC, and the Gates Scholarship. The approach I take is student-led. As a storyteller, I deeply value getting to know my students and amplifying their voices. I encourage my students to leverage their individual strengths and stand out in their essays, rather than only being what they think an admissions committee wants to see. My first-generation low-income background informs me on how to beat the odds and overcome educational barriers.

I went to a small Quaker school in center city Philadelphia, where I learned to love learning, particularly math and science classes. I began tutoring my younger siblings in these subjects when they had trouble themselves. I even began attending Biology review sessions to help my teacher explain topics to other students and review material with them. I always enjoyed teaching simply because I enjoyed and was passionate about the material itself. But I enjoyed it even more when I heard about all the success other students were having as a result of my teaching.I was recruited to Brown University for rowing and am officially undeclared but plan on graduating with a dual degree in biology and German studies. My favorite subjects to tutor are the ones I'm most passionate about; namely biology, German, and math (algebra and trig).Outside of all that, I enjoy rowing, running, biking, watching films (in English and German), and playing guitar.
