I am also part of the BS/MD program between Adelphi University and SUNY Upstate Medical University. This means that right out of high school, I was guaranteed admission to medical school in 4 years! I will be majoring in Biology. To work towards my goal of becoming an Interventional Cardiologist, I am currently conducting research in Cardiology at St. Francis Hospital, where I also volunteer every year. I tutor in ACT subjects, SAT subjects, AP subjects, Biology, Spanish, and much more! I have successfully obtained my New York State Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish, one of the subjects I'm most passionate about. Being an AP Scholar with Distinction and a recipient of the AP Capstone Diploma has allowed me to tutor an academically diverse array of students. I have tutored previously through afterschool homework help programs at my high school, as well as through Math, Science, and National Honor Society opportunities. However, having been a Children's Museum volunteer and a baseball coach, I enjoy watching young kids and teens improve in not just school, but in many aspects of life. I love teaching by incorporating these different aspects of life (including favorite activities) into different subjects so as to make the learning process more fun and engaging!

Hello! My name is Sam Bicking. I am an alumni and student at The University of Pennsylvania studying Pre-health sciences before entering medical school. I have been tutoring for several years with students with disabilities (and amazing students without disabilities).

I am currently a 3rd year doctoral candidate at the University of Oxford. I previously attended the Yale School of Public Health and earned a Master of Public Health in Health Policy with a concentration in Global Health. I also hold two Bachelors degrees - a B.A. in political science and a B.A. in biology - from Vassar College. I have been a tutor for twelve years and enjoy teaching very much. I have taught both graduate and undergraduate level courses at Yale as well as multiple courses at Oxford. Some of my favorite activities include traveling, dancing (classical ballet, pointe), and playing baseball.

As you can probably tell, I am passionate about helping others learn. I believe that all students can lean, when provided with the proper tools. I have a diverse background in education, having worked as a teacher in all grades, K-12, special education, and adult education. Additionally, I've held roles as a lead teacher, literacy coach, instructional specialist, academic engagement administrator, assistant principal, principal, and director. I hold five teacher certifications and four administrator certifications. I am also a proficient instructional coach certified through the MDE. I graduated from MSU, U of D, WSU, SVSU and CMU. I have an insatiable thirst for learning and take great joy in instilling that same love for learning in others!

Hello! I'm a 3rd-year medical student with plans to specialize in neurology or psychiatry. I previously graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with minors in biology and chemistry. I have an extensive tutoring background, beginning in high school. First, as an elementary school ESL tutor due to my 11 years of Spanish and Advanced Placement course experience, later becoming a Supplemental Instructor for my college's Psychology 101 courses for 2 semesters. Here I would create and hold twice weekly lessons for challenging material, pre- and post-exam reviews, and regular evening "office hours" for one-on-one, confidential, personalized support. With COVID-19, I was forced to rapidly adapt to both virtual and hybrid settings, but here I learned strategies to succeed, both as a tutor as well as a student, that I still use today! Through my own academic journey, one of these lessons I hold dear is to embrace weakness just as much as you'd embrace strength. Taking time to celebrate successes (even the small ones) has been just as important to my success as reviewing my shortcomings and evaluating potential future obstacles. In this way, I believe my role as a tutor is to elevate each student's unique strengths and successes, while working together to actively and openly spot and address any roadblocks to success!

I am a certified middle grades (5-9) educator. I began my teaching career in 1999 working with students with Varying Exceptionalities I am familiar with reading, applying tutoring based on a student Individual Education Plan (I.E.P.) and 504 which including using strategies, manipulative to engage the student understand abd apply the lesson.

I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in Politics and a minor in Asian American Studies from Pomona College. I was also accepted to Tufts University and the University of Southern California, where I was awarded a merit scholarship, and waitlisted at Harvard University. I have tutored underrepresented elementary school students to improve their reading comprehension and edited college applications for high school students. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Literature, and Reading. As a first-generation low-income student, I understand the importance of education as a form of social mobility and career preparation and will make it my priority that you benefit from each session. In my spare time, I love playing ultimate frisbee and traveling.
