I have been in the education field for a total of 20 years. My educational background was cultivated at the University of Florida as well as the University of Central Florida. I have my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and am currently studying for my Masters of Education specializing in Reading. In 2017, I began teaching scholars in China how to learn English and read with VIPKid. It is my mission to help scholars develop the cognitive, language, physical and social skills required to succeed in their formative years. In the classroom, I also help inspire students to develop the self-confidence required to succeed in school in the coming years. In my classroom, I promote a cooperative play environment where scholars learn not only from their teachers but each other.
On a daily basis, I encourage engaged and creative minds through ongoing and daily student-centered active-learning lessons. I am an inspiring and empowering force in scholar's lives so they are excited and motivated to learn.
In my classroom, I ensure all lessons are scholar-centered and differentiated so that all scholars get the support they need. I utilize humanist and socio-cultural principles so students can learn through discovery in safe and collaborative environments. It is important that I ensure assessment, pedagogy and curriculum are student-centered so that learning is always relevant to the lives of my students. I have an inclusive classroom atmosphere in which all students learn to appreciate and respect the diversity in their class.
It is important to show all boys and girls that they can be anything they want to be if they put in the effort and have the mindset to achieve. In my classroom, I promote both hard and soft skills in my students, including STEM skills and important emotional skills such as compassion, resilience and work ethic. Finally, I give scholars the cross-curricular foundations for a successful life as active members of their chosen communities. I specialize in ELA, which is all aspects of Reading and Writing. I have studied Orton Gillingham as well as the Science of Reading. I can teach them foundational skills such as phonemic awareness all the way to Reading comprehension.
