I am currently a PhD candidate completing my doctorate at Yale University in the Medieval Studies department and has previously obtained masters degrees in English Literature and Medieval Studies from Yale, The University of Georgia, and the University of Glasgow. An Atlanta native, I returned from New Haven to live and work in Georgia while I finish the final stages of his dissertation. Over the course of my studies, I have taught undergraduate literature and history as an instructor at Yale, the University of Georgia, Oxford University, the University of Glasgow, the University of Connecticut, and Wesleyan College (Macon, Georgia).

I am also working towards a career in molecular biology, I use math and science every day, and I can explain real-world applications and uses for these subjects that may not seem obvious. By demonstrating the use of math and science in everyday life, I am able to help interact with the student and increase their interest in a subject in which they may experience difficulty. I also believe that as a tutor, it is my responsibility to engage with the student to help them achieve and even surpass their goals. In my spare time, I am heavily involved with music in New York City, being part of multiple choirs and continuing to play piano. I also enjoy exercising and exploring the city whenever I have the chance.

I am a graduate of Harvard College, where I earned my BA, Cum Laude, in Economics and Government. I have also completed Columbia University's Certificate program in Business, and earned a Master's degree in Finance from Claremont McKenna. Currently I am working towards a JD at NYU's School of Law. Starting in college, I tutored students in economics and statistics, and also work with clients on subject test areas for the Advanced Placement exams, as well as standardized test preparation such as for the SAT I and II, GRE and LSAT. I especially enjoy helping students prepare for standardized tests because I remember how helpful a compelling guide and mentor can be during the often stressful process of testing and preparation for it. In addition to performing well on the exams themselves, I believe it is just as important for students to learn how to think calmly and confidently about these tests, so that they can help to serve students' broader educational goals. In addition to tutoring students - and being one myself - I enjoy keeping fit by boxing at the gym, reading mostly non-fiction, and rooting for favorite NCAA teams. I have had the opportunity to travel extensively abroad, and always enjoy learning about new cultures and peoples.

I have assisted tutees and other writers with crafting cogent arguments, structuring organized essays, and polishing drafts for style and tone. I am a graduate of Denison University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, with minors in Spanish and music performance. Throughout high school and college, I have been tutoring my peers in Spanish, English, philosophy, math and even music theory. I have also tutored adults in GRE subjects. Since graduation I have been helping Spanish-speaking children in DC with their English and working at a lobbying firm. I tutor in a variety of subjects, focusing on Spanish, English, Math and Standardized Tests. I tutor in a fun, competitive and encouraging style, often comparing learning to reaching a new benchmark in a sport, or leveling up in a video game. I spend most of my free time playing soccer, singing and playing chess.

I am a Chicago native who is studying for the bar after graduating cum laude from Northwestern University Law School this May. I studied at St. Ignatius College Prep and graduated summa cum laude from Villanova University (including a two-term stint at Cambridge University). Between Villanova and Northwestern I worked at an academic non-profit organization and evaluated hundreds of fellowship candidates' writing and academic work.

I am in the process of applying to law school with a focus on labor/employment law. I mostly have worked with students on their essays for college applications, but also was a peer tutor for life sciences and statistics while in college.

I am completing an iconographic and photogrammetric survey of ancient Maya architecture on the Yucatan Peninsula. Along the way I have travelled in Africa and Latin America, lived in Mexico--where I studied as a Fulbright Scholar--and in Canada, where I taught at McGill University. I started teaching test-prep classes (GRE, LSAT, SAT, and GMAT) twenty years ago and have taught for several national companies. Teaching these classes has always been immensely gratifying due to the satisfaction of helping students prepare for and meet career goals. I particularly enjoy teaching the more complex subjects, such as the LSAT analytical reasoning and the GMAT quantitative comparison. I know how difficult some of this material can be because I have worked very hard to master it myself! Due to my time spent studying foreign languages (Spanish, three Mayan languages, Middle Egyptian) I am also very good with writing, rhetoric, grammar, and style. When not teaching or doing research I might be found curling, running, woodworking, taking photographs, cooking with my well seasoned wok, or visiting art galleries.

I am currently the Editor-in-Chief of Crit, the Journal of the American Institute of Architecture Students, a national peer-reviewed publication in which high school, college, and graduate students publish their written and design work. I also work as a college essay editor for an educational consultant based in Philadelphia. I am preparing applications to dual-degree graduate programs in city planning and law.
