Tutoring review by Cameron in Emmaus, PA
The session was good today. The student did a great job working through the problems, asking questions when he had them, and following my work when he had questions. Today we mainly worked on exponential laws (power rules). There are many variations of this, so we worked through many problems of this concept involving adding exponents, raising a power to a power, working with negative exponents, and cancelling common terms. Another great session!

Tutoring review by Richard in Emmaus, PA
The student was very engaged and enthusiastic throughout today's session. Initially, she told me about her first tutoring session at school this week. We talked some, and it became apparent to me that she was feeling 'pleased and confident' about her progress in math. During today's session we focused on the operation of subtraction again. The student showed greater understanding of the place value of whole numbers, up to and including,100,000. It appears that her weekly school-based tutoring is 'reinforcing' what we continue to study in our twice weekly tutoring sessions. I am encouraged by that and see the potential for increased learning of skills and self-confidence for her in the coming weeks.

We went over the chapter review for a test on Friday. This chapter primarily covered triangle relationships and angle relationships given parallel lines and a transversal. Both students demonstrated some understanding of the topics. I would encourage them to remember that they can use their eyes to check for right angles, congruent angles, and supplementary angles.

The student and I went over problems on simplifying radicals and solving radical equations. She did an excellent job with these problems and didn't have any issue with them. She also did excellent on her quarterly exam getting a 99. Her only mistake was a simple error which she missed when she was checking her work. Overall, she is doing a great job and has the right attitude and determination to do well and it shows in each session. She will be learning imaginary numbers next week,

Tutoring review by Laura in Emmaus, PA
We covered chapter 4 of the student's Geometry book, including sections on perpendicular bisectors (and how to prove them), corresponding and alternate angles, and theorems of equivalency. The student was very eager to learn and understand the material. She was a willing participant in the tutoring session and was a pleasure to work with. We discussed some strategies for easily figuring out corresponding and alternate angles (so that she doesn't spend unnecessary time trying to work those problems on her quizzes and tests).

Tutoring review by Jason in Emmaus, PA
Both students are doing very well. Today we went over a wide variety of math concepts from ratios and discounts with Student A to some ratios and negative numbers with Student B. Student A is more prepared as he has just had more math classes than Student B, but they both take to new concepts very well.
