I am a recent graduate of Penn State (May 2020) with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, and I am on a CPA track as far as having earned all 150 credits in four years of school and having had two internships. My current occupation interestingly has nothing to do with accounting, although I have been able to apply certain math and accounting-based concepts to my work over the years; I am an accredited media member for IndyCar and NASCAR and I am the head IndyCar, NASCAR and Formula 1 writer and editor for a motorsports website called Beyond the Flag, where I produce roughly 130-140 articles per month. I chose to become a tutor in Math (Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and Accounting) because I believe that my success in math-related subjects from my grade school days through my college career can be used to help others achieve their goals, and I enjoy watching students as they grasp concepts with which they previously struggled; I enjoy seeing those concepts "click". Additionally, I have seen hard work pay off from my leadership role at Beyond the Flag, having worked closely with my contributors to achieve an audience growth of over 500% since I started in February 2017, so I believe that I can make a positive difference to help those around me.

I'm Cassandra. I come from a big family in Pennsylvania. I graduated high school as valedictorian and began school at New York University in 2015. At NYU, I study Applied Psychology and Sociology with a minor in Music. My school experience is driven by a desire to understand people as individuals and what affects human wellbeing. Based on this understanding, I enjoy doing what I can to help other people grow and learn, which is what led me to become a tutor. I've been tutoring peers, siblings, and strangers since middle school, and my objective is to help students reach their learning goals.
I am an undergraduate student at the University of Pennsylvania. I have been tutoring for over 6 years now, and I have found it to be an extremely rewarding and enjoyable experience. I specialize in mathematics, particularly at the high school level, and I also have experience tutoring other subjects. I also have done SAT prep for the mathematics section of the New SAT and am very familiar with the recent changes to the exam. My belief is that everyone is capable of learning with enough time, explanation, and practice, and I hope to pass this on to all the students I work with. For this reason, I believe in teaching students how to think and problem solve, rather than just having them memorize patterns or facts.
I'm a pre-health student at the University of Pennsylvania, and have an extensive background in the sciences. I can also rock the SATs and MCAT, so I've got that going for me. I love learning with students and trying to make the tedious work of learning as fun as possible. I think and teach in examples and make abstract concepts easily understandable. I also love sports, adventures, travelling!
I am a rising fourth-year medical student at Perelman SOM at the University of Pennsylvania currently taking time off from school. I am a Yale 2014 graduate (B.S. in Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry). I spent my gap year doing wet lab research in a biochemistry lab at the main NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland, My parents are both university math professors with a natural gift for teaching that I believe they passed on to me. I hope to apply for residency in Internal Medicine or Psychiatry and down the line in my career to teach medical students while practicing in and academic or private-practice setting. I specialize in MCAT testing but am hoping to tutor for the SAT as well, and possibly AP exams. In my free time I enjoy rock climbing, running, working out, playing video games, and dabbling in random hobbies (most recently crochet!).
I am a first year medical student at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. I have been a private tutor in the past in subjects such as math, biology, chemistry, and the SATs and every single one of my more than twenty students have shown significant improvement. Most importantly, I have a passion for teaching, and your needs and preferences as the learner will always be paramount. I hope to help every one of my students reach every bit of their potential, and along the way, to utterly shatter any self-induced limitations that have been placed upon what they can accomplish.
I am dedicated to helping both struggling and thriving students excel in the subject in question. While I will work closely with my tutees, I will never just tell them how to answer a problem. Making sure the student is able to solve the problem on his own and understand why this method of solution works is how the subjects can be mastered.
I'm available to tutor biology, chemistry, physics, math from Algebra up through AP Calculus, SAT test prep, and French. I've been tutoring students in science and math for 7 years. I also spent 8 months working and studying in France, and have tutored high school and adult students in French. When I'm not working or studying, I love playing volleyball (indoors or on the beach!) and spending time outside, canoeing or hiking with my dog. I look forward to meeting and working with you!
I am currently a rising Junior at the University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics and minoring in Science, Technology, and Society. From early on, the intellectual development of others has been very important to me. In high school, I developed my school's first summer tutoring program to ensure that students retained information and were prepared for the upcoming year. I am most passionate about tutoring Political Science, History, and Math, with significant experience in helping students in each of these subject areas. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and playing the bass.
I am well schooled in academic writing and reading comprehension; furthermore, I have honed my ability to write pointed, direct essays for both applications and classes. After studying French in high school, I went on to spend over six months in France working on archaeological excavations. As a previous educator for high school students, I am versed in different learning styles and can't wait to work with more. It sounds trite, but it's true--I love teaching, and consider it both a privilege and a real pleasure. I look forward to helping more students achieve their academic goals!
I am a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania pursuing a Masters in International Educational Development. I graduated from Stetson University with my BA in 2017, and since then have worked in inner city schools. The last two years, I have taught Algebra and Geometry at a charter high school, while managing a math tutorial program within the school. I find great joy is setting students up for success and helping them achieve the utmost in school. I do not only focus on student academic performance, but also on their social-emotional well-being, so they may attain a positive mindset of their day-to-day learning. I have 10 years experience working with elementary kids, including assisting with homeschooling. However, I am more passionate about helping students understand higher levels of mathematics. I am a believer in quality education, that's why I make sure to create an engaging learning environment for my students.
I am a high school science teacher with certifications in secondary Biology and Chemistry. I teach 10th grade Biochemistry and 12th grade Chemistry at a high performing magnet school in the School District of Philadelphia. I hold a M.S.Ed in Secondary Science Education from the University of Pennsylvania. I believe all students have the ability to be self-motivated towards success, and I look forward to helping you achieve your goals.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, Varsity Tutors connects students across all six Reading school districts with personalized 1-on-1 instruction. Whether your student attends a school in the Reading School District or one of the surrounding districts, we match them with tutors who understand Pennsylvania's academic standards and can support their specific curriculum and learning goals.
Reading students frequently seek support in math and English language arts, particularly as they progress through middle and high school. We also work with students preparing for standardized tests like the SAT and ACT, as well as those needing help with AP courses and Pennsylvania-specific assessments. Tutors can also support students in science, history, and foreign languages depending on individual needs.
The first session focuses on getting to know your student—their learning style, current challenges, and academic goals. The tutor will assess where they stand in their coursework, identify specific areas needing support, and work together to create a personalized plan. This foundation helps ensure that every subsequent session builds directly on what your student needs most.
While Reading's schools maintain a reasonable student-teacher ratio, classroom instruction still means teachers juggle many students with different needs. Personalized 1-on-1 tutoring fills that gap by giving your student undivided attention, allowing tutors to slow down on tough concepts, adjust pacing to match their learning speed, and provide immediate feedback—something that's difficult to achieve in a classroom setting of 15 students.
Tutors working with Reading students are familiar with Pennsylvania's standards and assessments, including PSSA benchmarks and Keystone Exams. They align their instruction with what your student's school expects, whether that's mastering specific grade-level skills or preparing for state assessments. This targeted approach helps students build confidence while staying on track with their school's curriculum.
Pricing varies based on the subject, tutor expertise, and your student's specific needs. Most families find it helpful to start with an initial session to discuss goals and get matched with the right tutor, and we can provide transparent pricing information at that point. We work with families to find tutoring solutions that fit their budget while ensuring quality instruction.
Tutors connected through Varsity Tutors are subject-matter experts with strong backgrounds in their fields—many hold degrees in their subject areas and have proven teaching or tutoring experience. They're selected for both their knowledge and their ability to explain concepts clearly and adapt to different learning styles, ensuring Reading students get instruction from qualified professionals.
