I received my Bachelor of Arts in English and Secondary Education at Gettysburg College and am currently working towards my M.S.Ed in Reading/Writing/Literacy with Reading Specialist Certification at the University of Pennsylvania. I spent the past year working as a full-time high school English teacher in the Council Rock School District where I taught ninth grade English, Public Speaking, and Ancient Mythology. I have always wanted to be a teacher, and I have had numerous opportunities to work with students in various settings. While at Gettysburg, I was a tutor for several after school programs working with elementary to high school students. I studied abroad in England the fall of my junior year, and I worked as a student aide in a year six classroom in Lancaster, England. I also worked at Gettysburg College’s Admissions Office as a tour guide, which gave me the chance to work closely with admissions officers who gave me insight into the college application process and tips for writing a good college essay. I am able to help with any English subject as well as test prep for reading and writing. As a teacher, I am passionate about helping students achieve academic success, and I will bring that same passion and creativity to any tutoring opportunity. Every student is different, and each has his or her own academic needs. I strive to find the best -- and most enjoyable -- way to tutor each student to accommodate individual learning styles. Other than English and education, my biggest passions are music, theater, and sports. I love to sing and play the piano, I have been a participant and teaching artist at my local theater’s summer camp for over ten years, and I play softball, soccer, and field hockey.

While attending Gettysburg College, I spent junior year attending the university in the beautiful Black Forest Region of Germany. I earned a BA in German with a minor in Education. I earned a teaching certificate for German in New Jersey. Since then, I have taught students of all ages, including twelve years in public schools teaching 6th-12th graders. I taught adults in a community course and ran a tutoring center at a community college. I have also volunteered presenting German instruction at preschools and elementary schools on special celebrations for my children's classes. I have used a variety of teaching techniques but I generally use lively, hands-on methods, and I feel that learning through stories and physical responses greatly improves success in communication. Beyond tutoring, my interests include hiking and nature, environmental issues, reading, word games, travel, and spending time with my family.
I graduated from Gettysburg College in 2012 with Bachelors Degrees in History and Political Science. In college, I frequently tutored my classmates, helping them to prepare for tests and presentations. I have worked extensively with children, accumulating five years of experience as a camp counselor in addition to several years as a swim instructor and coach to all ages. I was raised in an academic household, and although I struggled as a young student, I learned to embrace academic challenge and thrived as a student in high school and college, and I am now preparing to continue my education in graduate school. My experience taught me that all students, no matter their situation, have the potential to succeed academically, and I work hard to instill this belief in my pupils. Though I tutor a wide range of subjects, I have a special passion for the social sciences, particularly History, and I enjoy tutoring a variety of students, from those who do not fit the academic mold (especially ADD students) to those looking to boost their academic standing with a strong performance in advanced AP level courses. In my spare time I enjoy physical activities like long distance running, hiking, kayaking, and travel when I have the time.
I am graduate of Gettysburg College where I earned a degree in Health Sciences in 2013 while also playing football. I later went on to earn his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Arcadia University in Pennsylvania where I graduated in 2020. I spent all of his time in the outpatient orthopedic setting during my clinical rotations. I plans to pursue a Orthopedic Clinical Specialty (OCS) as well as continuing education in Concussion Rehab, Sports Rehab, and certification in the McKenzie Method of Diagnosis and Treatment of the Spine. In my free time, I love to play guitar, cook, exercise, and watch all Philadelphia sports teams.I not only teach my students about their subjects, I also teach them HOW to study. We will work on good study habits and techniques that students will be able to use in all different subjects. And while we learn lets try to minimize stress and have some fun!
Hi! I'm a history and social studies teacher with a PhD in Curriculum Studies and an MA in History. I've spent my career helping students at the secondary and college levels build the skills they need to succeed — whether that's understanding historical events, writing a strong essay, tackling a research project, preparing for an AP exam, or simply becoming more confident readers, thinkers, and writers. I love working with students one-on-one because I get to meet you exactly where you are and help you figure out what clicks. If you're looking for someone patient, encouraging, and genuinely excited to help you grow, I'd love to work with you!
I am a rising Junior at Gettysburg College for Music and Computer Science. The subjects I tutor (Music, Comp Sci, Math) are not only subjects I know I'm capable in, but also subjects that I'm incredibly passionate about. I hope that through tutoring I get to spark passion in these subjects with others, while also being able to converse with people already passionate about them.
I developed a passion for biology at Gettysburg College while researching cell cycle control and DNA damage repair pathways in the common bread mold Aspergillus nidulans. This experience led me to pursue a PhD in Biomedical Sciences at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. I decided to start tutoring because it is the perfect opportunity for me to share my passion for science and gain valuable teaching experience. The two things that make me a great tutor are my deep understanding of biology and my ability to communicate complex concepts in ways that are easy to understand. My passion for science and education also makes my tutoring sessions a lot of fun for my students.Outside of tutoring I love being active and outside. I am desperately trying to get better at tennis in the summer and racquetball in the winter. You can also see me riding my bike around the city all year round.
Hi there! My name is Camila and I have been a lover all my life of teaching others and aiding those who feel confused or lost in a subject. I am most happy to be here as an online tutor to continue to teach and be taught by others.
I want to give young people the tools they need to build a brighter future. From an early age, teaching and mentoring have been passions of mine, and I was able to hone those skills while studying English and writing at Gettysburg College. During summers while attending college, I was a teacher's assistant at Suffield Academy's summer program. After receiving my BA, I worked in digital marketing as a lead writer and content creator, helping small businesses expand online. The pandemic realigned my priorities, however, and I switched careers to teaching. For the past year, I have been teaching English online as I work to receive my English Teacher Certification. My teaching philosophy involves an emphasis on critical thinking and helping students find connections in literature, and I love to use modern art and culture to show how old ideas and people have had profound influences on our own lives.
I am a graduate of Gettysburg College with a B.A. in English and Theatre, SUNY Stony Brook with a M.F.A. in Dramaturgy and Dowling College with a M.S. in Secondary English. I spend 11 years as Associate Artistic Director for a Long Island based theatre company as well as Adjunct Assistant Professor at Dowling College in the Theatre Department. I have a passion for English literature as well as its historical implications. As a creative professional in both theatrical endeavors and educational pursuits, I will be guided by my values and shall give it my interest, my enthusiasm, my passion, and most importantly, myself. In everything I do I will present materials in a clear, interesting and innovative way, ensuring each student individually to help them take center stage and achieve academic goals. In my free time I enjoy catching up with favorite television shows or films, bowling, as well as acting in or directing theatrical productions.
I first began teaching during graduate school, when I took on a small group of piano students in my parents' living room. Over the course of four-and-and-half years, my voice and piano studio grew from three to forty students as young as five and as old as seventy. I also had the opportunity to teach Literature and Drama at a private elementary/middle school for one year. While worthwhile and fun, my experience in the classroom helped me realize that I prefer working with students in a private lesson setting, as it allows me to understand their personalities and preferred learning methods. One-on-one, I am also able to get to know the students in such a way that they feel comfortable asking questions and being themselves throughout the learning process. My formal education and training are in music, specifically classical singing, and I hold a B.A. in Music from Gettysburg College, and an M.M. in Vocal Performance from University of Wisconsin-Madison. While at Gettysburg College, I acted as a tutor for Music Theory I and II students. I also took a number of literature and creative writing courses, along with seven semesters of German and a semester studying Music and German in Vienna, Austria. My love of reading, writing, and languages stays with me, and I still enjoy writing short stories and blogs, reading fictional novels, and brushing up on my German and French skills via Duolingo. While my career is mainly focused in music and private teaching, I have a strong background in administrative and publicity work. As an organization nerd, I revel in arranging paperwork, color-coding calendars, and creating spreadsheets. In my free time, I enjoy cooking healthy meals, baking not so healthy treats, and spending time with friends and family.
I hold a B.A. from Gettysburg College in English, a M.A. in American Studies and Social Policy from Georgetown University, and a M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Delaware. While earning my degrees, I have also worked in health policy for various non-profits and academic institutions for 15 years. In addition, I taught both full time and as an adjunct college professor for 7 years total. During my time as a professor, I worked one on one with many students to help them gain a better understanding of concepts covered in the courses and researching and writing papers. It is very important that students understand the subject material and can express their understanding through thoroughly researched, written, and edited papers. I believe that life is a series of courses in education; it does not stop when you leave school. To that end, I enjoy traveling around the world, having traveled to Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean for work and pleasure. Everywhere I go, I try to visit museums, historical sites, and common places the people enjoy in the region. In my spare time, I enjoy working out at the gym, pilates, reading, movies, and cultural and sporting events in the area.
