I am a licensed occupational therapist and educator. I have over 10 years experience working with young adults- from teaching English to coaching students through the college admissions process. I went to Elizabetown College, where I studied English Secondary Education (6th-12th grades), Penn State for my master's in Higher Education Administration and College Student Development, and Thomas Jefferson University for my doctorate in occupational therapy. I currently teach ergonomics and social participation intervention courses at Jefferson, and I have extensive experience in English grammar and writing. My tutoring style is more that of a coach, and I am able to cater to a variety of learning styles.

As a dedicated special education teacher with years of experience supporting students with diverse learning needs, I am passionate about helping each learner reach their full potential. I specialize in creating personalized, engaging, and structured lessons that build confidence, strengthen foundational skills, and encourage independent thinking. My approach blends patience, creativity, and evidence-based strategies to make learning meaningful and accessible for every student. I understand that every learner is unique, which is why I focus on tailoring instruction to meet individual strengths and challenges. Whether it's improving reading fluency, boosting writing skills, mastering math concepts, or building study strategies, I work closely with students to make learning manageable and even enjoyable. Beyond academics, I prioritize fostering self-confidence, independence, and a love of learning, ensuring students feel supported and capable every step of the way. If you are looking for a tutor who is patient, knowledgeable, and committed to helping students succeed, I would be honored to guide you or your child toward achieving academic goals and building lifelong learning skills.
Hello! My name is Courtney Moomaw. I studied Elementary/Middle Level Math Education at Elizabethtown College and have my Bachelor's degree in the subject. I also have my Master's degree in Technology for Online Instruction from Slippery Rock University. I spent 3 years as a middle school math teacher and am currently a stay-at-home mom raising my little girl, Hayley.I fell in love with math in high school in my Algebra 2 classroom. Math is like a puzzle to me and I love working hard to solve whatever problem I face. Math is also very straight-forward; there's only a right or a wrong answer. I love that it is so precise; most things in life are not that cut and dry!My hobbies include spending time at the beach, reading, and hanging with my family. If I'm not at home in PA, I'm usually in Rehoboth Beach, DE where my family has a camper. My goal is to help you cultivate a love of math and to build your skills so you can become an independent and strong learner! I look forward to working with you!
I've been working with high school and college students professionally since 2004. I'm drawn to teaching students for two reasons. First, I enjoy seeing the reaction on their faces when they realize they're able to accomplish something they thought was impossible. Watching students succeed is a reward that never gets tiring.Second, I honestly enjoy working on the material personally. When I'm not teaching students how to solve math equations, I'll actually work on some in my free time. I have a collection of math puzzles, logic games, and crossword puzzles that I work on constantly. I never get tired of playing with numbers and words, and I like to bring that enthusiasm to my teaching.Outside of math and logic, I like to read. I love music -- playing and listening to it. And I always try to catch some good movies. Most of all, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially playing with my two kids.
***I'm currently only accepting tutoring sessions via Google Classroom/Skype/Zoom.I'm a recent college graduate that majored in Secondary English Education and Asian Studies. My specialties include catering towards EL students, dialectical learning, multi-media support, and an optimistic and open-minded attitude.
As a dedicated math teacher and experienced tutor, I am passionate about helping students not only grasp mathematical concepts but also discover the confidence and joy that comes with understanding. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working closely with high school students, guiding them through various math subjects including algebra, geometry, calculus, and more. My favorite subject to tutor is Algebra because I find the challenge of explaining complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner incredibly rewarding. My teaching philosophy centers on creating a supportive and interactive learning environment where students feel empowered to ask questions and explore different problem-solving approaches. Outside of academia, I enjoy reading, spending time with friends and family, and indulging my passion for cooking. These interests enrich my tutoring approach by bringing diverse perspectives and experiences to my interactions with students.
