Hello! I love to teach music and to help others learn and grow. I am always looking for more ways to share my passion and make an impact on the lives of others.I have taught a variety of ages and subjects, from general preschool classes to high school instrumental ensembles. Regardless of the students' ages, however I have always made it a priority to introduce content in a variety of different ways to meet my students where they are and make sure the learning environment is as beneficial to them as possible.I have dual bachelor's degrees in Music Education and Performance from Rowan University, where I worked as a tutor for Music Theory, Music History, and a variety of general education and beginner music courses. I am currently pursuing my Masters degree in Trumpet Performance at West Chester University, where I serve as the graduate assistant for the Department of Music Education. I also am the Northeastern Regional Coordinator of the MusicLink Foundation, a non-profit organization providing lessons to those in need.

I have a lifelong fascination with the past and with all human cultures, this is my passion and I'm driven to share that passion with others. I graduated from West Chester University of PA in 2014 having received a B.S. in Applied Mathematics and a minor in Physics. I am a software developer in Manhattan, but feel passionate about teaching. I hope to use tutoring as a stepping stone to one day continue my education in a PhD program to become a professor of computer science.I love math and programming, and hope to help students find their love for these two abstract fields. My philosophy is if I can understand how my student learns, I can help clarify the underlying principles and foundation of the most conceptually important details for a strong understanding in the field. My success is only determined by my student's success.
As a passionate educator with almost 3 decades of teaching experience, I hold a Master's degree in History from West Chester University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor's in Secondary Education - Social Studies from the Pennsylvania State University. I specialize in AP Human Geography, AP Comparative Government and Politics, AP European History, AP World History and IB Philosophy, alongside general high and middle school social studies curriculum. My teaching philosophy centers on personalizing learning to meet each student's unique needs, utilizing a blend of the Socratic method and diagnostic assessments to identify student strengths and weaknesses. I am dedicated to fostering critical thinking and engaging discussions, particularly in my IB Philosophy course, where I guide students through complex ideas and encourage them to form their own arguments. Outside the classroom, I enjoy gardening, basketball, reading, writing, and serving as an advisor for the high school Dungeons and Dragons Club, which helps cultivate creativity and teamwork among students. I look forward to helping students succeed with their educational goals and discover their potential!

I am dedicated to helping my students grow into honest, compassionate, and driven young learners. Above all I, believe in giving students a safe space to express themselves, explore their potential, and develop a love for learning. In turn, this will guide them to become analytic thinkers, which will ensure they are ready for whatever lies ahead of them. I am am excited for the opportunity help students in grades 4 through 8 by tutoring them Language Arts like reading, writing, and mechanics, and study and organizational skills.
Hi,West Chester UniversityB.A. Language & Cultures; SpanishMontgomery County Community CollegeA.A. Liberal Studies
I am currently a student at West Chester University studying to be a high school English teacher. Deciding on a major was difficult for me because I enjoy many different subjects. The one thing that remained though was my desire to become a teacher. Education is my passion.Every student is unique and deserves individualized attention. No two students will learn exactly the same way, so instruction needs to be differentiated. This is easier to accomplish when only one student needs to be accommodated.Since each student I work with learns in different ways, I first assess their learning style to determine their strengths and weaknesses. Thereafter, the material that needs to be taught will be altered to fit with the student's learning style to ensure academic success.I also believe that the best thing a teacher/tutor can do for her students is to care about them. Students excel when they know that the teacher really believes in them and encourages them. I will personally care about the academic well-being of every student and make sure I do my best so each student can do his best.

I enjoy tutoring and feel that I can be helpful to those in need of science help, particularly in chemistry and physical science.
I have had many Math professors throughout undergrad and graduate school and I have found that, although they all know what they are talking about and are all very intelligent, what makes a math teacher great is understanding that not everyone understands things the same way he or she does. Throughout my years tutoring all levels of mathematics, I have developed the ability to readily explore several different viewpoints and methods to help students fully grasp the subject matter. I can present the material in many different ways until we find an approach that works and makes the material easy to understand. Nothing gives me a greater thrill than the look of relief on a student's face when they actually start to "get it" and realize that it is not as difficult as was previously believed.I have a Master of Science degree in Math, over three years' experience as an actuary, and am a member of MENSA. I am highly committed to students' performances and to improve their comprehension of all areas of Mathematics.

Hello! My name is Seana Henry. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Mathematics from West Chester University. I have found most of my passion for teaching through homeschooling my two children. I am able to teach a wide variety of subjects tailored to their interests and I always end up learning something new along the way as well! I am a big believer in everyone learning at their own pace and in ways that suit their learning styles. I struggled with reading as a child (thanks to my dyslexia and ADD) and was met with immense pressure with little support in overcoming that struggle. What I have learned through teaching my child, who has the same struggles, is that those things can be overcome with the right support! It would be an absolute privilege to continue to pay forward all that I have learned and help other children learn in ways that are both enjoyable and beneficial to their academic development/journey! Outside of teaching, I spend a lot of time hiking, painting, drawing, wood burning, listening to/playing music, baking/cooking and anything else that brings myself and my family joy. I would love the chance to help your child gain the confidence and skills to succeed in schooland maybe help them to fall in love with learning along the way!
I enjoyed working as a computer science teacher and English teacher for years before I decided to be a math teacher a few years ago. To me, teaching is an ideal career for me and it provides me the opportunity to work with young people and help them learn and help them get ready for college life. I had some great experiences with classes of students and individual students as well. It was my moment when my students told me that they felt more confident in math and they did better than before in class. Math is fun and you will enjoy learning it as long as you work hard and never give up!
I am an honors college student at West Chester University working toward a pre-physical therapy major and a communications minor. As a tutor, I strongly believe that education and practice are essential components in becoming more successful. I have a vast variety of educational degrees and personal experiences, that I would like to share with you, so you feel confident that I am a good match to tutor your student.I graduated from Bensalem High School in 2001, and then continued directly to West Chester University. While at college I held two part-time jobs on campus, one was as a Secretary at the Counseling Center, and the other was a tutor for college level Math classes. In May 2005, I graduated from West Chester University with a BSED in Elementary Education. I then continued to Drexel University to obtain my Teaching English as a Second Language Certificate. Finally, I finished getting my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership with Principal Certificate from Cabrini College in 2009.Previously I have tutored for college students, and high school college prep students. This focused on preparing for standardized tests such as SAT's and ACT's, working on college essays and applications, as well as maintaining good grades in regular subject areas. Also, I was a contracted teacher for in 5th grade, 6th grade, and in High School & Elementary School ESL, as well as having student teaching experience in 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and various substitute teaching assignments.Personally, I enjoy tutoring Mathematics and Writing the most. Due to my personality of being serious and logical, having one concrete answer helps motivate me to work a problem through to completion. Also, I can be a bit silly and expressive and the ability to have many potential correct great answers allows more freedom to use interesting words to convey a meaning.Outside of teaching and tutoring, I have held another full time job for the past three years, as well as becoming a small business owner. I do not have a plethora of free time, however when I do have a clear agenda, my hobbies include cuddling my cats, watching movies, going to concerts, traveling, taking photographs and sleeping. I take my work very seriously and dedicate my time to achieving goals, but I also have a goofy fun side, that I hope will make me a perfect fit as a tutor for your student!

I recently graduated from NYU's Stern School of Business and had a great time helping prospective students on the GMAT. I believe in making the session fun and student-driven - but also quickly finding any underlining problems with comprehension and addressing them.

Additionally, last year I tutored a first grader in reading and phonics.I believe that it is important to really get to know my student so that I can better teach them. I try to learn their interest and hobbies so that I can use them during a lesson. I like to try to make a personal connection with each of my students and really tailor what they are learning to them so that they are able to relate to the material. I graduated from West Chester University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in Integrative Biology. As a tutor, I supplemented professor lecture instruction with additional material support in small group sessions. I mentored and demonstrated effective active learning and efficient studying techniques supporting the study of the human body and various organic reactions. Over the course of my time tutoring at West Chester, I was able to progress through a series of College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certification levels, ultimately achieving Master Tutor Level III status. These tutoring certification courses demanded demonstration of proficiency and understanding in the following areas:-Self-regulated learning, brain learning, and/or memory-How to tutor/deal with target populations-The role of learning centers in higher education-Structuring the learning experience-Training and supervising other tutors-Group management skillsUpon graduating, I worked as a Neurodiagnostic Technologist at Geisinger Medical Center. In this role, I held primary responsibility for observation of patients admitted to the epilepsy monitoring unit through continuous EEG recording and audio/video monitoring. Specifically, I preserved the integrity of both scalp and intracranial EEG electrodes by conducting bi-hourly impedance inspections and performing appropriate electrode fixing or disconnects. I am also an incoming osteopathic medical student and will be attending the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine beginning in the fall of 2020.Personally, I find that an understanding of science, particularly of the biological disciplines, offers a beautiful lens through which we can all view the world. This can help us appreciate the miracles of life around us each and every day. I derive great personal satisfaction in assisting others with their own personal scientific understanding of the world. It is my pleasure to facilitate this worldly understanding in the individuals that I tutor, because an enhanced understanding of the biological sciences will improve critical thinking and abstract application to a multitude of modern day problems to help make the earth a better place for us all. To this extent, I strive to help each client achieve their unique and individual goals by carefully listening to how they learn, what they need most from a tutor, and what type of actionable plan should be designed to offer improvement of content comprehension, study technique, abstract application, and/or internal motivation. I will do everything I can to improve your progress towards your goals related to the various scientific domains within the natural life sciences, particularly related to the specific subjects I tutor:-Genetics-Biochemistry-Anatomy and Physiology-General BiologyI look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your goals with these courses and your dreams with science.

Sometimes finding the right way to look at a problem is the hardest part of solving it. Early on I realized I am not a visual learner and unfortunately a lot of the early education system is built around that skillset. So, from the time I started school I was always looking for new ways to approach problems. As a result I am drawn to situations where I can solve problems and help people understand things better. Tutoring and teaching, for me, is the pperfect intersection of my skillset.Regarding my education, I recently completed my Associates of Life Sciences from Montgomery County Community College and am now working towards my Bachelor's degree in biology with a specialization in cell and molecular studies and a minor in psychology. After completing my degree I intend on enrolling in a Master's program for genetics counseling. While I do tutor a variety of subjects, I am the most passionate about the biological sciences. These subjects make up the foundation of all living things, and even though they are complicated, how could you not wonder where life comes from or how it works? I love helping students discover their love of biology, plants, and animals! I love fostering curiosity and exploration through education by helping students understand these challenging subjects and showing them how they can use what they are learning in the real world. I love hearing stories about how their knowledge came in handy on a camping trip or how they were able to help explain a difficult concept to their peers using the different methods they learned in their sessions with me.While I am the most passionate about biology, I also use my science and psychology-minded approach to tutoring other subjects as well and love helping students discover passion for things that they were formerly struggling in.I am happy to work with students who have learning disorders. It can be so difficult and frustrating for a student to try to explain why there is a disconnect in the information that other people read and understand so easily but just will not come easily for the student. I am personally dyslexic and have ADHD and remember the struggles I had growing up and getting through school. It took me years to develop coping mechanisms and tricks that let me read and write efficiently because I was diagnosed later on. As a result, I have an intimate understanding of what tips and tricks helped me stay on track. I am happy to help with reading and writing, organization, how to set goals and stay on task, and focus/listening skills.Building a strong and sound educational foundation is imperative to setting students up for success. Doing it while having fun and learning important problem solving skills helps impart confidence in students. It also helps them learn the importance of following through with what they start and the reward of completing something difficult. All students face challenges and how we approach them can make all the difference. I am excited and passionate about helping students face challenges head on and accomplish their goals.
