I am a graduate Xavier University of Lousiana, where I receive a Bachelor of Science in Biology (pre-med); and Arkansas Colleges of Health Education, where I received a Master of Science in Biomedicine. I began tutoring during my freshman year of undergrad. I worked as a tutor for General Biology I and II throughout college. After graduation, I spent nine months teaching in Cote d'Ivoire, a francophone country in West Africa. I am currently attending medical school, and continue to pursue my passion for teaching. My love for teaching stems from my passion of helping others understand and enjoy learning science. Over my years of tutoring, I have learned how to cater to various learning styles and find new methods of presenting information to best fit the needs of the student. My goal is make learning interesting and interactive for my students.
I graduated from Xavier University of Lousiana in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a double minor in Chemistry and Spanish. I love tutoring based on my experience working with kindergarten-eighth-grade students in an afterschool tutoring program, as well as tutoring students struggling in college biology. Helping a student reach the point where they understand a difficult concept is the most rewarding part of tutoring for me. Though I am interested in a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about teaching math and science, and love working with all age groups. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, playing viola, and walking with my dog.
I absolutely love teaching! I know, everyone says that. However, I love teaching for selfish reasons. Teaching allows me to learn, grow, engage, and better myself. In the process, maybe I get to clear some muddy waters for my students.
I have been an educator for the past 10 years and I have a strong passion for helping students to reach their maximum potential. I believe that all students can learn and I strive to meet students where they are. I graduated with a bachelors degree in Biology and received a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Xavier University of Louisiana.

I am here to provide a supportive, patient, and encouraging space for growth.
I have been teaching pre-kindergarten through second-grade students for twenty-five years. I believe that all students can learn when equipped with the proper tools needed for success. My favorite color is blue. My favorite food is pizza. I have lived in New Orleans, Louisiana, Austin, Texas, and Birmingham Alabama. I enjoy teaching oral language, phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, reading basics, vocabulary, text structure, comprehension, and sentence structure, all of which are important steps that help beginning readers master success. I received my bachelor's degree in elementary education from Southern University in New Orleans and my master's degree in curriculum and instruction and reading specialist from Xavier University. I am certified by the Louisiana State Department of Education to teach nursery school, kindergarten, lower elementary grades, first through fourth grades, and reading specialists.
Hello! I started tutoring by accident and fell in love with teaching. I first started tutoring organic chemistry as an undergraduate, then I had microbiology during graduate school, and now I'm tutoring K-12. My heart has always been science but I enjoy lower levels maths such as basic math with Algebra as my stopping point. My background is in biochemistry and biomedical sciences. Chemistry is my favorite subject because it includes math but in reality anyone who studies chemistry or biology should have a good understanding of both to succeed. It is my experience, there is no one way to learn, everyone has their own style. As a tutor, I ask a lot of questions in the beginning so I can determine the learning style so I can alter my teachings. I will use every tool I have in my arsenal to ensure my students understand their material. I look forward to helping as many students as I can succeed in the math and science.
I am a tutor because I believe that every student has the capacity to achieve greatness in any subject. They sometimes need help realizing that capacity. I have been with Varsity Tutors for 4 years now. I am currently a first-year medical student at Ross University. I am a tutor who encourages students to make mistakes and helps them understand that wrong answers are a part of the learning experience. They are not setbacks but steps toward the correct solution. I am pretty flexible with my schedule, given enough notice, and am willing to work around students' busy lives. I love education and learning new things myself, and I encourage students to find the joy in learning and enjoy even the subjects that can seem daunting.
I help students turn challenging concepts into something clear and manageable. With experience as a Physics SI leader and a strong background in science, I tailor each session to your learning style so you can build understanding and confidence.
I am a person who genuinely enjoys both writing and chemistry (especially organic). To most people, this seems like an odd combination but for me it's natural. I have been able to leverage both of these skills in order to obtain a PhD in organic chemistry. Also, I have written a couple of articles about chemistry on Medium. Understandably, some students struggle in these areas and I would like to help. When I am working with students, I like to be flexible with my teaching approach. During our first session, the student and I will set goals for our time together and we will discuss your learning style. In the subsequent sessions, student and I will work together to develop a learning environment that will help you Education: - Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Notre Dame (2014) - B.S. in Biochemistry from Xavier University of Louisiana (2008) Experience: 1. 5 years working as a lecture teaching assistant for general chemistry I and organic chemistry I and II at the University of Notre Dame 2. 1 year experience tutoring a high school student in chemistry (1 hour per week) 3. 6 years experience in helping undergraduate students understand organic chemistry and biology
HI, my name is Nakisha. I currently work as an Early Literacy Specialist in Philadelphia. Prior to this role I taught in various elementary grades. My passion is to give students skills they need to be successful learners.
I am a current undergraduate student majoring in Medical Laboratory Science with a minor in Bioethics. As a dedicated college student, I have experienced firsthand the transformative power of effective and personalized teaching. My passion for tutoring biology stems from my belief that a good teacher not only imparts knowledge but also inspires curiosity and confidence in their students. Throughout my academic journey, I have had the privilege of helping peers navigate complex concepts and develop a deeper appreciation for the subject. Witnessing their growth and enthusiasm reinforces my commitment to education. In my free time I like to read science fiction novels or comic books, dance or enjoy nature while out hiking.
I am a graduate of Loyola University's Master's Program in Mental Health Counseling, and I have a strong foundation in sociological theory from my undergraduate studies. I specialize in helping students with literature, academic writing, and complex concepts in philosophy, sociology, and counseling. Earlier this year, I passed the NCE and am now offering tutoring for individuals preparing for licensure. One of my primary career interests is coaching high school and college students through academic stress using a strengths-based approach that builds confidence and promotes long-term success. My goal is to make the kind of academic support I once relied on more accessible through flexible virtual sessions. In my free time, I enjoy taking walks in the park, exploring farmers markets, and relaxing in local cafes.
Hi! My name is Ashley. I have been a middle school math teacher for the last 10 years. I am very passionate about helping students become more comfortable with math and grow in their math journey. I have a proven track record of student growth in math and the ability to make students comfortable with math, who traditionally have felt overwhelmed and like they are not math people. I hope working together can be a positive experience and change those feelings.
