About Me

I have been teaching pre-kindergarten through second-grade students for twenty-five years. I believe that all students can learn when equipped with the proper tools needed for success. My favorite color is blue. My favorite food is pizza. I have lived in New Orleans, Louisiana, Austin, Texas, and Birmingham Alabama. I enjoy teaching oral language, phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, reading basics, vocabulary, text structure, comprehension, and sentence structure, all of which are important steps that help beginning readers master success. I received my bachelor's degree in elementary education from Southern University in New Orleans and my master's degree in curriculum and instruction and reading specialist from Xavier University. I am certified by the Louisiana State Department of Education to teach nursery school, kindergarten, lower elementary grades, first through fourth grades, and reading specialists.
