Hello! My name is Betsy Barron, and I am so excited to help you find your voice. I've spent the last decade in Tribal public health, but my greatest 'secret weapon' has always been writing. In fact, I've won hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships, including the Gates Millennium Scholarship and the Udall Native American Graduate Fellowship, primarily because I learned how to master the art of storytelling. As a doctoral student, I know that even the most complex topics need a clear narrative. Writing is a tool you can use creatively, defensively, and professionally. My goal is to help you build a foundation that serves you for the rest of your career. In our sessions, we'll use an iterative editing process. I won't just give you corrections; I'll give you the 'why' behind every strategy so you can grow as an independent writer. I was born and raised in China. In 2000, I came to United States with my husband to pursue my master degree in Nutritional Science in University of Oklahoma Health Science Center. I have two girls both born in US. I have been teaching them Chinese language and culture. Five years ago I started teaching Chinese in our city Chinese School. I am very passionate about teaching the Chinese culture and language to the younger generation in US. By knowing more Chinese culture, learning Chinese could be more interesting and useful.Depending on the different students with different goals, I will use different teaching technique to fit your needs. From listening, speaking, to reading and writing, learning Mandarin Chinese should be step by step and also should be fun. I would like to introduce many tools in the lesson-videos, songs, Microsoft office PowerPoint, cards and books. Lets work together to make a fun learning journey.

I recently graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology. This August I will continue my education at the University of Oklahoma Medical School in OKC. I hope to one day become an orthopedic surgeon and specialize in sports medicine. I have always loved any type of science course and enjoy helping others understand it and become successful.I have previous tutoring experience in basic science courses such as chemistry, organic chemistry, anatomy, and biochemistry. I have also tutored in many different math subjects such as algebra, geometry, and trig. However, I have a passion for tutoring students with the ACT. By taking the time to study for this rigorous test, students can reap the benefits through academic scholarships and much more. I have tutored many different students and have been able to see them improve after each practice test.Outside of school, I am very active. I love working out and playing sports. Throughout high school, I played basketball, ran cross country, and rode horses. Now, I lift weights and do personal research in nutrition and athletics. I hope to one day combine my love of medicine and overall health in order to help my patients one day.

I received my Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri- St. Louis. I received my Doctor of Nursing Practice from Capella University on March 7, 2020.
