Hello! My name is Betsy Barron, and I am so excited to help you find your voice. I've spent the last decade in Tribal public health, but my greatest 'secret weapon' has always been writing. In fact, I've won hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships, including the Gates Millennium Scholarship and the Udall Native American Graduate Fellowship, primarily because I learned how to master the art of storytelling. As a doctoral student, I know that even the most complex topics need a clear narrative. Writing is a tool you can use creatively, defensively, and professionally. My goal is to help you build a foundation that serves you for the rest of your career. In our sessions, we'll use an iterative editing process. I won't just give you corrections; I'll give you the 'why' behind every strategy so you can grow as an independent writer. Often, your writing is the only first impression a school or an employer gets of youlet's work together to make sure it's a great one. Book a session with me today, and let's get to writing!

I was born and raised in China. In 2000, I came to United States with my husband to pursue my master degree in Nutritional Science in University of Oklahoma Health Science Center. I have two girls both born in US. I have been teaching them Chinese language and culture. Five years ago I started teaching Chinese in our city Chinese School. I am very passionate about teaching the Chinese culture and language to the younger generation in US. By knowing more Chinese culture, learning Chinese could be more interesting and useful.Depending on the different students with different goals, I will use different teaching technique to fit your needs. From listening, speaking, to reading and writing, learning Mandarin Chinese should be step by step and also should be fun. I would like to introduce many tools in the lesson-videos, songs, Microsoft office PowerPoint, cards and books. Lets work together to make a fun learning journey.

I recently graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology. This August I will continue my education at the University of Oklahoma Medical School in OKC. I hope to one day become an orthopedic surgeon and specialize in sports medicine. I have always loved any type of science course and enjoy helping others understand it and become successful.I have previous tutoring experience in basic science courses such as chemistry, organic chemistry, anatomy, and biochemistry. I have also tutored in many different math subjects such as algebra, geometry, and trig. However, I have a passion for tutoring students with the ACT. By taking the time to study for this rigorous test, students can reap the benefits through academic scholarships and much more. I have tutored many different students and have been able to see them improve after each practice test.Outside of school, I am very active. I love working out and playing sports. Throughout high school, I played basketball, ran cross country, and rode horses. Now, I lift weights and do personal research in nutrition and athletics. I hope to one day combine my love of medicine and overall health in order to help my patients one day.

Tutors who graduated from OUHSC bring firsthand knowledge of the university's rigorous curriculum, faculty expectations, and exam formats. They've successfully navigated the same coursework and challenges you're facing, so they understand exactly what it takes to excel in your specific program. This insider perspective helps them tailor instruction to what actually matters for your success at OUHSC.

Tutors from University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center excel in courses across health sciences programs, including anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, organic chemistry, medical microbiology, pathology, and clinical sciences. They also help students prepare for licensing exams like the USMLE, NCLEX, NAPLEX, and other professional board exams. Whether you're in the College of Medicine, College of Nursing, College of Pharmacy, or College of Dentistry, you can connect with someone who's studied your exact material.

Your first session is a chance to connect with your tutor and establish what you need help with—whether that's mastering a difficult concept, preparing for an exam, or improving your overall understanding of a course. The tutor will assess your current level, learn about your goals, and create a personalized plan tailored to your learning style. From there, you'll work together on the specific topics and skills that matter most for your success.

Yes. Tutors who graduated from University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center have personal experience taking licensing exams like the USMLE, NCLEX, NAPLEX, DAT, and others. They know the format, the high-yield topics, and the strategies that work. They can help you build a focused study plan, work through practice questions, and strengthen weak areas so you feel confident on test day.

One-on-one instruction means your tutor focuses entirely on your needs, not a classroom of students. They can slow down to explain concepts you're struggling with, speed up through material you've mastered, and adapt their teaching style to how you learn best. This personalized approach has been shown to dramatically accelerate learning compared to group settings, especially in complex subjects like health sciences where deep understanding is critical.

Varsity Tutors matches you with qualified tutors who have attended or graduated from OUHSC based on your subject, goals, and learning preferences. Once matched, you can start personalized instruction on your schedule. The process is straightforward—just let us know what you need help with, and we'll connect you with someone who has the expertise and background to help you succeed.

Absolutely. Many students build ongoing relationships with their tutors, working together across multiple courses or throughout an entire semester or year. This continuity is valuable because your tutor learns your strengths, weaknesses, and learning style over time, allowing them to provide increasingly targeted support. Whether you need help with one course or sustained support across your program, you can arrange a tutoring schedule that works for you.
