Hi there! My goal is not only to help you grow and pursue your academic goals, but to further pursue knowledge and explore new and different aspects of academia. My personal philosophy is that practice is key, and that it is never too late to start! In my own personal experience, I know what it was like to struggle and need help, so my goal is to support any student and meet them where they are! I have a Bachelors of Science in General Chemistry from the University of North Carolina, Pembroke. I plan on tutoring math and chemistry, but am open to exploring other subjects soon!
I am a Nationally Board Certified Teacher with 19 years experience in high school social studies. I've taught a variety of courses in the social studies including AP level History and Government/Politics. Teaching has always been my passion and I love it as much today as when I first started many years ago. I've worked with a wide range of students from a wide range of backgrounds. I've spent several years overseas working with non-native English speakers as well. I received my BA from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and my Master in Curriculum and Instruction from North Carolina State University. I believe tutoring is successful for most students because I am able to customize each session to the needs of an individual; this means instruction is tailor-made and much more effective. Outside of teaching and tutoring, I enjoying playing board games and card games with family and friends and reading a good mystery.

I am a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. I have my Bachelors degree in elementary education. I have taught and tutored for 13 years and love every minute of it. I believe every child deserves an education. Everyone is unique and different. We all have different strengths and weaknesses. I never want a child feeling less because they do not understand something. I want them to understand there is something everyone struggles with, and they are important. I teach and tutor reading, math, social studies, and science. I enjoy teaching all subjects. I enjoy learning as a whole. Outside of teaching/tutoring, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am a very family oriented person.

I attained a Bachelor's degree in Biology and Chemistry from University of North Carolina, a Masters in Bioscience Regulatory Affairs from Johns Hopkins University, and a Doctorate of Pharmacy from University of Maryland. My education has exposed me to a vast array of sciences, giving me a good foundation to tutor in several science fields. I currently work as a clinical pharmacist. I have taught developmental Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and developmental chemistry at the community college level and enjoy the field of teaching very much. There is a certain reward that comes when a student grasps a concept , and I hope I can be of assistance to you in doing that as you continue on in your academic journey.

I have aspired to be a teacher since I was a child. My sisters and I would play school all the time. I grew to enjoy helping my peers learn how to understand concepts, and even tutor students younger than myself while I was in high school. My mother fostered my passion for teaching as she inspired me to search for the answers to my questions rather than settling for what was in the textbook. I have never liked to watch a student struggle to understand a concept, so I would find other ways to explain what they could not understand. My first classroom teaching experience began in 1991, in a physical science classroom. I faced ten special needs students who had to pass the end-of-course exam to earn their diplomas. In all of my 31.5 years of education, this was the most stressful, yet most rewarding opportunity. The challenge was great, but we worked as a team to accomplish the learning tasks. Nine of the ten earned their credit. There have been other challenges along the journey; I chose to approach every challenge differently. Every student is different. That requires a different approach to teaching and learning. My Biology degree with Teacher Certification was obtained in 1991 from Pembroke State University, which is now UNC-Pembroke, in Pembroke, North Carolina. In 2008, I obtained my Masters in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University, primarily because I aspired to search for higher employment in education. However, that desire subsided as I dealt with the passing of my mother. In 2010, I regained my love for lifelong learning and entered the Doctoral program of Instructional Leadership at Grand Canyon University. Online learning was enjoyable for me. Between 2010 and 2017, I went through several surgeries that eventually led me to pause that degree. Three chapters of my dissertation were written; maybe I will resume that at some point. I thoroughly enjoy teaching Biology, Physical science, and Earth science. The higher-level sciences are engaging and intriguing; however, I enjoy working with struggling students so I choose to focus on these courses. I have had the honor of teaching honors-level classes, which proved very rewarding as well. The math in these sciences corresponds to basic algebra, so I could tutor algebra as well. I enjoy math and science because students learn to use critical thinking and reasoning skills that will help them with real-life problem-solving. My philosophy has always been simple--Every student can learn, but every student can not learn the same way as another student. Knowing how a student learns is critical to achieving mastery. Presenting the information in various ways, whether physically in the classroom or online, is essential to mastery. Using the internet resources available is a must when striving toward mastery with all students.

I currently work with grades 6-8 as a special education teacher, which means if your student is struggling with learning I will be able to identify the problem and help your student over come it! I love helping students overcome their academic struggles and grow from their deficits. I know learning can be difficult, but I like to make learning fun. I welcome all of my students to learn in a welcoming virtual learning environment where students can ask questions and share their struggles. I really enjoy tutoring subjects like Reading and Math. The possibilities to make these subjects fun are endless.
Hello everyone! I'm passionate about helping every student discover their potential, no matter their learning style or background. As someone who was often overlooked in school due to learning differences, I know how important it is to have someone in your corner who believes in you and takes the time to explain things in a way that makes sense. That's exactly what I aim to do for each of my students. I'm currently working toward my degree in Middle Grades Mathematics Education at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Over the years, I've had the privilege of working with students from middle school to college, through informal tutoring with peers and hands-on experience in my college fieldwork. My specialty is tutoring math from Kindergarten through 9th grade, but I also enjoy supporting students at the elementary level in all subjects. Math is my favorite subject to tutor because there's always a right answer, it's like solving a puzzle. I love finding different ways to explain math concepts so that they finally click for each student. Whether that means using visuals, games, real-life examples, or simply slowing things down, I believe everyone can learn math with the right approach. My teaching philosophy centers around building strong, positive relationships with students. When students feel seen, supported, and understood, they become more engaged and confident. I make it a point to connect with my students on a personal level, and I create interactive, thoughtful lessons to keep them involved and interested. If you're looking for a tutor who understands that every student learns differently and who will work with patience, creativity, and heart, I'm here to help!
