I believe that all students can learn, just not in the same way. I believe that as a teacher, I am accountable if, due to my negligence, a child does not became what he/she is ordained to become.

I am a graduate of Post University with a Master's in Education with a focus on Teaching and Learning. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. In addition, I completed post-graduate studies at Old Dominion University in Elementary Education Since graduation, I have further expanded my studies and skills as an early childhood educator, perinatal professional, and yoga teacher who teaches special populations, such as pregnant persons, seniors, and kids. I am also a freelance writer for various publications. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Writing Composition, and History . I enjoy seeing students-children to adults-have "light bulb" moments when they begin understanding and thus, enjoying their learning experience. I believe education should be meaningful, relevant, and, most of all, enjoyable so that it remains a life endeavor. My hobbies include reading, crafting, crocheting, painting, traveling, yoga, and collecting Harry Potter and DC comics paraphernalia.

I am most knowledgeable in the subject of History with specializations in Military History, Native American History, Louisiana History and History. I have two Bachelors degrees in both History and Political Science respectively, and I have my Masters in History, as I am currently striving towards a Masters in Public Administration. I have and am receiving my college education from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. This education qualifies me to tutor in a variety of subjects related to History and Civics. I am passionate about helping students because of how helpful tutors have been in my life, as tutors that I had in high school helped me to improve my self-confidence and pride in my academic accomplishments. Since I was born with learning disabilities including Cerebral Palsy, I accepted the low academic standards that my elementary and middle school teachers expected from me, but my high school tutors' faith in my academic potential renewed my passion for learning. Since my tutors reassured me of my academic potential, I began asking myself what additional steps that I could take to improve my academic importance rather than only doing the work that was asked of me. When I improved my confidence in my academic ability, I became such a good student that I took one years worth of college credits during my senior year in high school due to my high school's dual enrollment program, and I graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA and a 29 on my ACT, as my current GPA in graduate school is 3.981. My experience with coping with a learning disability makes me uniquely qualified to understand and help students with learning disabilities, since I have learned several studying strategies to cope with my disabilities. I am passionate to help students, for I know from personal experience how impactful it can be for a student just to have someone that supports them and believes in their academic potential. History and Civics are my favorite subjects to tutor, since I am interested in studying the dynamics of how people interact with each other, and History is a subject based around memorization. Studying History requires a student to discover which method is most effective for them to retain the information that they read, and students need to reserve enough time to read and reread the material from their classes. My tutoring style is to help students create a schedule for them to make time to read the necessary material, then I teach them the skills to write notes effectively in class, so that the students can have a clear shorthand of the material to read on a daily basis. I also have my students read portions of their material out loud during my time with them, so that the material is recorded into their minds both auditorily and visually, thus it will be more likely that the students will retain the information that they read. My next step would be to ask the student to explain the concepts that they read in their own words, so that it will be easier for the student and myself can know which concepts that they are struggling to understand. I also help students to learn how to organize, write, research, and proofread their essays and other written assignments. I look forward to more opportunities to help students develop confidence in their academic capabilities, so that they can take pride in the work that they do and progress that they make.
