I am a graduate of Black Hills State University and University of Alaska, Anchorage. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Special Education and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. Since graduation, I have taught and lead schools in South Dakota, Alaska, and Wyoming. While I support a broad range of learners, I am most passionate about elementary age students. In my experience helping struggling students reach goals and gain confidence makes an incredible impact on their entire educational career. I am passionate about the role of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, walking my dogs, traveling and reading.

I am a software engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Alaska Anchorage. I have 6+ years of experience as a software engineer across several industries. I love to read and learn, and believe that sharing what you learn is an important part of that process. I tutor computer programming and adjacent concepts, and enjoy communicating complex concepts to students from a variety of backgrounds and experience. Computer science is a fascinating field that grows more important every day, and it's a privilege to introduce it to others. When I'm not writing code or reading, I also enjoy long distance running and tabletop RPG's.

I was born in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, a small picturesque town in the Far East of Russia. I grew up surrounded by visitors of many cultures and languages, and from early on it has sparked my interest in the outside world.After mastering the English language and graduating from high school, I came to the United States to attend the University of Alaska Anchorage to obtain my Bachelors degree in French and Spanish. It was a great opportunity for me to immerse myself in Anchorage's multicultural community.I am very proud of my heritage, and working as a Russian tutor at UAA for 2 years, I had a chance to share my passion and appreciation of Russian language and culture with the other students. As an officer of International Student Association, I collaborated closely with a Russian Immersion School. Over 3 years many of its students came to me for tutoring.As a native speaker, I understand all aspects of Russian in depth, and I can break them down to make the learning process effective and perspicuous. Moreover, as a language student myself, I can relate to the challenges and frustrations of mastering a foreign language. I employ a custom tailored approach for each of my students based on their individual learning style, goals, and struggles. I work hard, and my students' success is my number one priority.Aside from my passion for foreign languages, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our three kitties, practicing belly dance, and reading classical literature. In the very near future I plan on attending graduate school to obtain my MBA in Hotel and Hospitality Management to come closer to my dream career in tourism field.

More than just a shift in location, moving from Alaska to Texas signified a fresh dedication to professional development, flexibility, and service in my teaching career. In classrooms impacted by a variety of ethnic backgrounds, remote locations, and distinct student needs, I discovered the value of adaptability, community, and relationship-building in Alaska. It took imagination, perseverance, and a profound respect for the role education plays in bolstering communities to teach in that setting. I've been able to apply those experiences to a fresh and exciting educational environment since moving to Texas. Classrooms in Texas showcase a diverse range of cultures, viewpoints, and goals, and I am eager to contribute to this setting with the same commitment and flexibility that helped me in Alaska. Collaboration, data-driven education, and ongoing professional development are important to me, and I'm excited to share my talents from past experiences while learning from colleagues.

I recently graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) with a Bachelor of Arts in German. In my years of studying German, I've become adept in a number of learning strategies that I am excited to share with my students. These strategies include finding patterns in language, immersion, and using the etymology of words as a pneumonic for memorizing vocabulary. While at UAA I also worked as a math tutor for 5 years, tutoring college students from ages 17-75, in subjects ranging from arithmetic to calculus. I've learned a great deal from my students; I find that it is easier to learn a subject when one is at ease. One way I try to create that environment is to get to know and understand my students' stories. I've tutored single parents, post-active duty military, people with learning disabilities and autism, students who have struggled with math all their lives, and students that are struggling with math for the first time. I have witnessed and heard stories of how early experiences in math, such as an elementary school teacher telling a student that they're "just bad at math" or "not smart enough" to do math can affect a person for years, and I am fully equipped to combat this. We will find different ways to look at a problem until we find the right method that matches their way of thinking.
