I have been a business professor and a business tutor for over 10 years. My aim is to discern the individual learning styles of my students and to work with each of them in a manner that addresses his/her individual style. My greatest joy in tutoring is seeing the sparkle in a student's eyes when he/she understands a concept and is able to explain and it back to me.

Hello, my name is Lena! I graduated from Tufts University in 2017 with a BS in Biology, and I just completed my MS of Biomedical Studies at Drexel University. In my master's program, I was a peer tutor for graduate level sciences, such as anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry. In August, I will be starting medical school to pursue my dream of being a physician. In the meantime, I am here to help with pre-med coursework, MCAT prep, and many other classes. I am a graduating senior seeking to attain a Bachelors of Arts in Economics at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. Next year I will be working at Oracle based in Burlington Massachusetts. I am also pursing a minor in Computer Science and Child Studies and Human Development. In high school I was a volunteer tutor at my middle school where I tutored students one on one in overall homework help and subjects like algebra and earth science. In college, I am apart of Tufts Tutoring where I tutor local Medford High School Students. I also have a year experience tutoring students in Physics on Varsity Tutoring. I have tutored three students in overall homework help, Spanish, and physics. Even though I have tutored students in a wide variety of subjects, my favorite subjects to tutor in are science and math. These are tough subjects for all students and subjects that I have struggled with in the past. Being able to help students like me that feel frustrated in science and math in school and in standardized testing gives me great happiness. Education and learning is so important and valuable and being able to help students through the tricky parts of it gives me great joy.

I am currently studying Civil Engineering and Computer Science at Tufts University. Degree expected May of 2016. As the oldest of three siblings, I have spent a lot of time huddled around math and science textbooks, explaining concepts and helping my brother and sister see problems the way I do.I believe strongly that the student gains nothing from the tutor who does their work for them, so I go out of my way to make sure each student understands that grasping the concepts is much more important than solving the individual problems.Besides working with my siblings, I also have experience teaching swim lessons, volunteering in classrooms, and tutoring High School students.My favorite subjects to teach are Math and Computer Science. Outside of academia I am interested in basketball and music production.

I am a recent graduate from Tufts University with a major in International Relations and a minor in Economics. I have been helping students since I was in middle school working with students of all ages from kindergarten to college. Prior to spending four years at Tufts, I attended a boarding school in Massachusetts where I was committed to tutoring middle school students at a local Boys and Girls' Club for all four years. I always enjoyed seeing the energy of younger students who were eager to learn and their visible improvements. I also worked as a teaching assistant for an SAT prep center where I tutored SAT verbal and writing along with SAT II literature and math. I moved to Las Vegas a few months ago after finishing up college, and I would love to get back to working with students on a regular basis because I understand the importance of education and enjoy helping and seeing results. My favorite subject to teach is SAT because with the right help it is a standardized test that can see huge improvements in scores. Writing section is especially my forte because I think that grammar is the basic building block of the English language that deserves a little more attention in school. I feel a great sense of fulfillment when students start to understand the different structures of English sentences and appreciate such knowledge. In my spare time, I like to stay active and go to yoga classes, including antigravity yoga, and drive to national parks for fresh air. I am also a big foodie who enjoys regular trips to different restaurants with friends and an avid movie fan. I look forward to meeting with students here in Las Vegas!

I have a vast background in teaching both Mathematics (holding a PhD in math and nearly 20 years of direct experience) and English (holding a TEFL certification and 3 year of online teaching experience). This combination of two things, of course, could make me your perfect SAT tutor! In fact, I can nearly guarantee you that you won't find a tutor with a stronger background in these subjects both individually and/or taken together!In addition to these two things, I have a lot of experience with coding! In fact, currently, it's my favorite subject to teach. I would love to have more full times students who want to learn how to code Roblox and/or other games. I have made applications for games that have tens of thousands of downloads! I also code Roblox games. My favorite language is LUA, but I can help you with basic things in other languages.Of course, my teaching style is not for everybody! If you're just looking for direct answers to your homework, I will not provides these! I tend to ask many open ended questions. It is based on the adage that teaching somebody to fish is far better than giving them a fish!As asides, I can speak a bit of Spanish, minored and theatre, and I can play the tuba (don't laugh).Lastly, I also have a considerable background dealing with students with ADHD and other learning disabilities. I, myself, have ADHD and was able to get a PhD in math, so I certainly know the tricks needed to accomplish such things despite the ADHD!I look forward to working with you!!

I am a graduate from Tufts University and a graduate student at Villanova School of Law. I received my Bachelor of Arts in International Relations with a minor in economics. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, SAT Verbal, French, math and history. I am excited to be a Varsity Tutor because I enjoy helping students learn, understand and succeed. I am familiar with the SAT Verbal and subject test strategies. I enjoy helping students to understand not only WHAT the test is like, but HOW to take the test under timed conditions. I know a lot of FUN exercises too, such as mnemonic songs to help remember irregular verbs and conjugation. I graduated in May of 2015 from Tufts University with a BS in Economics and Biopsychology. At Tufts, I was an Economics tutor for the Academic Resource Center for three years. Additionally, I have worked as a volunteer English language teacher in Madrid, Spain, during my semester abroad in the Spring of 2014. I love traveling as well and am extremely excited to be returning to Madrid in September on a Fulbright grant to be an English Teaching Assistant at the high school level!My approach to tutoring has always been about understanding each student's individual style as a learner to create lessons best-tailored to his or her specific needs. I try to foster an environment where open communication is emphasized and the student feels comfortable and motivated. Outside of the classroom—even though I was born and raised in Manhattan—I love spending time in the outdoors. I am an avid rock climber, and enjoy hiking, camping, and connecting with nature.

My passion for teaching and creating outstanding educational opportunities for all students has guided my career. Not only have I worked as a teacher and an advocate, but I have modeled the importance of education by earning three Master's degrees: an MBA from Columbia Business School, an MA in Education Leadership from Teachers College at Columbia University, and an MA in Teaching Adolescent Math from Pace University.My formal teaching experience began in 1999, when I managed and taught reading, writing, and math skills at a tutoring center. From there, I went on to graduate school, which I followed with two years teaching middle and high school math in New York City Public Schools. During graduate school, having scored in the 98th percentile with a perfect writing score, I became certified to teach the GMAT by a private test preparation company, and taught that test to several small classes in Manhattan and Brooklyn.I am in the process of launching a small business. So in my spare time, I want to continue connecting to students by tutoring various subjects from math to English to test prep. As for test prep, I believe that most standardized tests don't test your ability in their stated subjects as much as they do your ability to take those tests. Therefore, it is critically important to teach not just the basic skills, but the ability to succeed on the test as well. I have a BA in English, Magna Cum Laude, from Tufts University. And I have an MFA in Creative Writing from Rutgers-Camden. While I worked on my MFA, I taught Writing courses at Camden County College. This past fall, I served as the Emerging Writer-in-Residence at Penn State Altoona. I can teach and tutor a variety of subjects, but I adore English: high school essays, college admission essays, AP Literature and Composition. I'm a good teacher, and I can help you improve your reading and writing skills. I believe that learning can, and should be fun. My students and I generally have a good time working together.
