I am a mathematician and educator who knows that every student CAN understand and enjoy mathematics. All students deserve an educator that is truly invested in their understanding in the subject matter. I strive to be that educator.I knew since High School I wanted to teach mathematics. I believe every student has the ability to learn and thrive. This belief drives my teaching. I have eight years experience tutoring full-time at the community college remedial level. I have also volunteered as a tutor for underprivileged middle school and high school students. I am comfortable tutoring those who are gifted as well as those with learning disabilities.I tutor a wide range of subjects, but am most passionate about Computer Science, Math, and Test Prep. These are all subjects in which a student can feel completely lost or stuck. In my experience, the small steps which can easily be gained in these subjects make a huge difference. The results are noticeable and applicable.I am a lifelong learner and am always reading/learning new things. I love theater, knitting, and technology. I am a graduate of Rowan University and Montclair State University earning a Bachelor of Arts in Theater Education and a Master of Arts in Theater Studies.

As a college student studying to be an elementary school teacher, I have learned how to engage students in their learning by making them active participants. I believe that students learn by doing and a teacher is there to encourage and guide the students through each step of the way!

I am a firm believer that there is not one right way to learn new information. Every person is unique and, thus, has a unique learning ability. I enjoy teaching and tutoring because it allows me to share my knowledge, learn and implement various learning techniques designed for individual needs, and gain a deeper understanding of the subject material. I was raised in New Jersey, where I completed a Bachelor's of Chemistry and a Master's of Molecular Pathology and Immunology. Throughout my graduate career and immediately following completion of the program, I gained extensive experience in wet lab and molecular research. The skills developed in my scientific research equipped me with knowledge and experience that I implement regularly in teaching general biology to college students. I believe that a basic understanding of how life works is vital because we are confronted with scientific events every day. The interest and appreciation of science is enhanced when we can relate the concepts to our every day lives; and, this is what I try to instill in my students. I also have experience in scientific writing, having been published and engaged in multiple peer-reviewed articles. I, thus, feel confident in assisting in writing and reviewing written works. In my spare time, I really enjoy getting involved in my local community theatre groups, spending time with family, exercising and reading.

I graduated from Rowan University with a degree in Management Information Systems. As a student who once struggled with classes in the past, I truly know the difference a good tutor can make. Tutors have the ability to break subjects down into more understandable ways for people who do not see things in the black and white ways that they are taught in schools. I believe that I have the skills to help others learn in new and creative ways like I was taught. There were many times where I faced difficult subjects in school. After almost giving up, once problems were re-worded or used in an applicable way, they were more understandable. I hope to be able to help others as a tutor by helping them find their best learning styles.
