I'm passionate about helping students to communicate freely with confidence and not be stuck on grammar. I am TEFL certified, have two years of teaching and education experience, and have studied five foreign languages myself.

I am a senior at Roanoke college studying mathematics with a minor in biology. I tutor mathematics and arithmetic at a variety of levels. I believe that math is most easily learned if you have an instructor who is positive about the material. Especially to get through some of the tedious beginnings of arithmatic because once you've got the basics, I promise it gets exciting! Away from academics, I enjoy getting outside and being active as much as I can. I've played sports throughout my life and I am currently on the varsity track and field team, but I spend my weekends with the outdoor adventures club!
Hello! I'm Haytham, and I've been tutoring mathematics for over five years and am currently studying it in hopes of becoming a math professor! My experience spans a wide range of levels, from middle school to college, covering various fields of math. My goal is to help students not only understand mathematical concepts but to truly connect with the material in a way that makes learning both effective and enjoyable. Teaching, to me, is all about finding the most intuitive way to explain complex concepts. This means tailoring my approach to fit each student's unique learning style, which I discover through our sessions together. I believe that every student has their own path to understanding, and it's my job to uncover and guide them along that path. One of my proudest achievements has been helping my students improve their test and quiz scores by an average of 24% over the course of a school year. This success is a testament to my dedication to personalized instruction and the meaningful progress it can foster. Whether you're struggling with algebra, geometry, calculus, or any other math subject, I'm here to provide the support and clarity you need to excel. Let's work together to build your confidence and achieve your academic goals!
Instructor who transforms content-dense material into visually appealing instructional resources with a storyteller approach that draws in the reader. Breaks down concepts and aligns material with student needs in an effort to maintain engagement to strengthen the learning process.
I am a senior at Roanoke College, a small liberals arts college in Virginia, majoring in Political Science with a minor in U.S. History. I have prior experience working as a Writing Center tutor at Roanoke, tutoring students at all stages in the writing process as well as helping students prepare for oral presentations. I have also been an Academic Coach, in which I was paired with students who needed more guidance in adjusting to college coursework and academic expectations. Though I have primarily worked with college students, I love working with students of all ages and abilities. I am passionate about writing, research, and the humanities. I can adjust plans and lessons according to the student's learning style and habits while also emphasizing long-term growth and progress. I also took the GRE at the end of last summer and scored well in the Verbal and Analytical Writing sections. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, watching movies, indoor cycling and traveling.
I am a passionate, experienced teacher with excellent references. I have been teaching for the past ten years in Miami Florida and just moved back to Fairfield County where I grew up and attended school. While I am a social studies teacher, I have tutored a variety of subjects. I am constantly looking for new teaching resources and strategies. My students have placed in the top 10 of all middle schools in Florida (over 2,500) on their state-administered Civics exam. I have also been rated "highly qualified" by my previous school and district with a perfect score the last two years.
I am a veteran teacher with seven years of experience in grades K-5. I've had the pleasure of teaching in both South Carolina and Georgia, with vast experience in literacy and math intervention, as well as Talented and Gifted differentiation. For the past two years I have served as a primary interventionist for a group of students in my reading and math classes; I also supplemented students in Fulton County's virtual 6th grade math program through small group instruction on 6th grade math standards.I am a graduate of Roanoke College with a major in History and a minor in Elementary Education. I hold a graduate degree in Education Policy and Leadership Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington, and an endorsement in Talented and Gifted Education from the University of South Carolina. I recently won the Teacher of the Year award at my school, and I am certified in both Project Based Learning and STEM Education. An avid reader myself, I have a deep passion for teaching students how to read, and how to improve their reading comprehension. I also love teaching math, and have a deep understanding of how skills "spiral" in both the Common Core and Georgia math standards. With the advent of virtual teaching and learning this year, I spent the last quarter of the school year teaching online, so I am well-versed in a multitude of virtual resources and learning platforms.I believe learning should be fun and have honed my ability to integrate all subjects into learning "experiences," which are engaging and challenging for students. All of my students are taught the growth mindset, and through a series of small goals we work together to tackle even the hardest of subjects.
I am a Latin American Studies Master's degree candidate at the University of New Mexico. My courses are concentrated in Economic Development and Gender here at UNM, with one of my main focuses being women's empowerment. I completed a Bachelor's in Business Administration and Spanish Literature at Roanoke College in May 2014. I have spent the large majority of my life as a student and I love learning. I graduated with a 3.95 from Roanoke and have maintained a 4.0 at UNM since the first semester. That being said, I believe my GPA is just a number and there is a lot more to learning than the grade received at the end of the semester.I am whole-heartedly committed to educating myself and others through empowerment, confidence-building, and patience. Everyone learns in different ways but that shouldn't keep knowledge out of reach. If you have trouble learning in the classroom and are looking for an innovative teacher who incorporates the real world into the materials you need to learn, I may be the tutor for you!
In my experience both as an instructor and as a student, I have found that traditional approaches to learning often fail to take individual needs into account. As a specialist in game-based learning approaches, I find the concept of play and creativity to be absolutely critical to personal and professional growth. A student's educational experience should be tailored to match their interests, and likewise, the subjects they are studying should do the same. As a tutor, I am driven to provide guidance and support for my students to help them overcome challenges and make learning a genuinely enjoyable experience. I utilize games as a primary tool for learning and find that students of all ages can grasp concepts better if they have fun.
I graduated from Roanoke College and am a certified Elementary School teacher (and ESL teacher) in Virginia and have taught 3rd and 4th grade. I love teaching math, reading, science, and social studies. I specifically love adventure stories, Virginia history, and finding new ways to solve math problems! Each child learns differently and has different strengths and weaknesses, such as some children may be advanced in reading while others have dyslexia and struggle with reading, but every child is capable of learning. In order to guarantee that every child is learning, I individualize the curriculum to each student based off of his or her learning profiles and motivate the students so that they are encouraged, eager, and excited to learn. Not only this, but the children are able to see the improvement that they are making. I have been teaching for 6 years. I would love to help your child love learning as much as I do.
