I'm eighteen years old, and I'm about to start my freshman year as a Musical Theatre major at Oklahoma City University. After being born in Colombia and living here in the United States, I've become completely fluent in both Spanish and English, which has helped me quite a bit in finding different ways to help my students solve problems and overcome issues. As a recent high school graduate, I understand how teenagers feel about school and studying, and it's easy for me to relate to that. It's comforting for teenagers to work with someone who knows what it's like to be a high school student, so it's easier for me to connect with them. In my free time I enjoy playing music, singing, watching films, and reading a good book.

I recently graduated from Oklahoma City University with a major in economics and a minor in mathematics.I have had over 6 years of experience as a private tutor, I work with several online tutoring services, and while I was in college I worked with my school's tutoring center.While I am qualified to tutor many subjects, my favorite subject by far is math, specifically calculus. Math is a subject almost universally hated, and I believe that is mainly due to the narrow way in which it is taught. I have ADHD, and I often don't understand things the first time they are explained to me, meaning over the years I have had to figure out different ways of looking at information. Oftentimes, all a student needs is for something to be explained in a different way, and I love watching people finally understand a concept. Everyone learns differently, but everyone can learn.
I am a learner at heart. Nothing I do is outside of experimenting and exploring possible answers before implementing it with my scholars. I believe that all students can achieve their goals with the right guidance and understanding the reasoning behind the why of what we learn. I specialize in STREAM (Science, Technology, Reasoning, Engineering, Arts, and Math) and my degree ad background in interdisciplinary studies provides me a foundation for an array of disciplines. This is a benefit because I can provides skills tailored to and beyond the needs of my students.
For my academic career I have to say I went all the way. I hold a Ph.D. in Business from Northcentral University, an MBA from Oklahoma City University and a post graduate certificate from Trident University (Post graduate work in Business). My undergraduate degrees are in science (BS and AS). I served in the US Marines and have traveled all over the world. I am semi-retired with time on my hands. I am certified as a secondary education teacher in all subjects from 4th to 8th grade. I hold special certification in science (4th to 6th grades) and business (6th to 12th grades). I have tutored students in math and science from 4th to 8th grades and in college, I have tutored and taught in any business subject. While I tutor students in all subjects, I am very passionate in science and business. I have taught students from all over the world. In my experience helping struggling students prepare for Standardized Tests, we always seem to have the most fun (with remarkable advancements) prepping for the Critical Reading, math, history, and Writing portions of the exams. When I was in 5th grade, I could hardly read or write. My 5th grade teacher helped me develop the skills necessary to learn and thrive. Back then, they did not have special programs to help students with learning problems, especially dyslexia. I owe her everything for my success and the future I created. I am trying to pay her back for her he, helping you succeed. You see, I went from a Cs, Ds, and Fs to straight As in high school and college (Although in college I did achieve a few Bs and one Cs). So can you. I am a firm proponent and believer in quality education. I have no doubt that education is the significant key factor for an improved quality of life and success in your future. I am the product of that success in my life and hope by paying it forward, I will impart this appreciation to you. In my spare time, I enjoy reading that which enriches my life, sailing, working out when I can, and the odd game of strategy. But If I am limited on time, I am usually on my sailboat, usually with one or more of my grandchildren.
