I have been a high school educator for ten years and am especially interested in helping students to learn communication skills in English, German and other languages. I received a BA from Northwestern College, Watertown, WI and a masters from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. I am the World Language department chair at my school and teach all four levels of German, and also have experience in teaching high school Latin as well. My German students who have gone on to college German have consistently tested into higher levels of the program. I also have extensive classroom experience in helping students become better readers and writers in English. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, watching and playing sports, exercise and writing.

I am a college professor with over 10 years experience teaching in higher education (and have loved every minute of it). I am an artist, having received my Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where I also taught Sculpture. I've taught a broad range of topics, from Art History to to Web Design. In addition to Art, I love History, Philosophy, and geeking out on Math & Technology. More than anything, I love to learn, and I hope to collaborate on a learning experience that is as much fun as it is challenging.

I have worked as a tutor and teacher for ten years, and I am passionate about using my education and experience to help others succeed. I know how hard it is to learn a second language, but I will be here for you each step of the way!I have a BA in English from University of Northwestern: St. Paul and TEFL certificate from Hamline University. I started teaching as a college writing and grammar tutor during university, then tutored K-12 students at Sylvan and Huntington Learning Centers in the Twin Cities. I also taught students independently in piano, guitar, writing, and literature. After getting my TEFL certificate in 2017, I volunteer taught English at Neighborhood House and Open Door Learning Center. I started my current full-time EFL job in Sept. 2018.Two of my favorite hobbies are travelling and cross-cultural friendships. My sister would tell you I became a teacher because when we were kids, I loved to boss people around. I would tell you that I became a teacher because I love to be involved in people's lives and to be part of them "getting it."More than, that, though, I have spent 10 years in a classroom because I love watching people "become." I believe I am a teacher of students, not a teacher of English, and I try to remember that education is a means to an end; we educate our kids because we want them to become compassionate, civilized, thoughtful, and, perhaps, revolutionary members of society. My hope with all my students is to guide them to a vision of their futures and to give them the tools necessary to pursue those.I have done one-on-one tutoring with students in different settings as well as being a classroom teacher, and those times have been among some of the most gratifying I have had. I have a great amount of empathy for those students who struggle to understand or to acquire the skills necessary to be successful in a subject area, and the creative problem solving as I try to figure out how to help.I am looking forward to connecting with students.

A good tutor is someone who understands your learning needs and desires, and adapts their teaching style to meet those needs. Learning should be an interactive process, with the tutor and the one being tutored offering equal conversation and interacting in meaningful ways together. The best tutors are able to balance the need for specific content mastery and the desire to instill a love for learning as a general concept.

I obtained a double major in Spanish and Psychology from the University of Northwestern--St. Paul. Hello! My name is Ms. Robyn. I have a B.A. from Northwestern College in Elementary Education with an endorsement in reading. I have taught kindergarten in central Iowa for 5 years. I have taught everything from Math and Reading to Social Studies and Sciences. My favorite subjects to tutor are math and reading.
