About Me

My sister would tell you I became a teacher because when we were kids, I loved to boss people around. I would tell you that I became a teacher because I love to be involved in people's lives and to be part of them "getting it."More than, that, though, I have spent 10 years in a classroom because I love watching people "become." I believe I am a teacher of students, not a teacher of English, and I try to remember that education is a means to an end; we educate our kids because we want them to become compassionate, civilized, thoughtful, and, perhaps, revolutionary members of society. My hope with all my students is to guide them to a vision of their futures and to give them the tools necessary to pursue those. I have done one-on-one tutoring with students in different settings as well as being a classroom teacher, and those times have been among some of the most gratifying I have had. I have a great amount of empathy for those students who struggle to understand or to acquire the skills necessary to be successful in a subject area, and the creative problem solving as I try to figure out how to help. I am looking forward to connecting with students.
