I am currently a freshman at North Carolina State University pursuing a undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering. I enjoy tutoring students in Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus, and all levels of Chemistry. I have studied math through Differential Equations and chemistry through college level quantitative chemistry.

I am a current student at NC State University, and I am pursuing a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering. Math has always been my strongest subject, and I love working with numbers. I hope to be able to allow students to see problems in a different light and not only be able to solve them but also understand them.
I am a graduate of The University of Notre Dame. I received a Master of Theological Studies degree with a focus on Systematic and Historical Theology. I also have Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and Political Science from North Carolina State University. While I can tutor a range of subjects, I am most interested in helping students with graduate level test prep. I have recently studied for and taken the GRE, so I am well-positioned and passionate about helping students succeed with testing and graduate school admissions. Writing is another area of interest for me. I especially enjoy helping students develop their writing skills. I love learning and I want to help students learn to love it too. Learning is valuable for its own sake apart from any practical considerations. However, I do recognize that sometimes students need concrete, immediate, quantifiable results, and so I always keep a student's stated goal at the forefront. In my free time, I enjoy reading, listening to music, as well as watching and playing sports.
I am a graduate student at North Carolina State University, currently working on my MFA in Poetry, as well as a teacher of undergraduate courses in creative writing at NCSU, as a part of my graduate program. I majored in Creative Writing and minored in Literature and German as an undergraduate, and spent three years of that time working as a tutor for my university's tutoring center. I am a CRLA certified Master Tutor and have worked with students of many ages and academic backgrounds, in essay writing, creative writing, test prep, and the German language. As a tutor, my most important goals are to help my clients build and grow confidence in their own abilities as students, to help them discover new ways to learn and understand their subjects, regardless of skill level or interest, and to help them achieve a love and motivation for learning.

I have enjoyed teaching all my life. I have taught and coached swimming, Boy Scout skills, classes and small groups in church, college classes, and enrichment classes for home schoolers. I like tutoring one to one because of the flexibility it allows me to have in tailoring the tutoring to the individual needs of the student.
Since high school, I've always had a passion for both teaching and mathematics, and the more I learn about both the more passionate I become. I was inspired by my high school math teacher, Mr. Byan, who displayed such a love of learning and teaching that it became infectious, and I hope to spread his joy for the subject and the appreciation of mathematics' profound beauty.I'm working towards an undergraduate degree in math, and hope to pursue a graduate degree afterward. I've been teaching since my first year of undergrad, and ever since I've looked for ways to continue -- through my personal and professional life.I think that the standard education system does a horrible job at teaching mathematics and often leaves students feeling like they're memorizing formulas. Real math is all about the journey to the answer, but grade school math is far too focused on just the answer. However, I feel strongly students should rarely have to memorize anything, and the ideas presented to students should always be motivated and explained so they understand the why and the what. I've found in my own experience teaching, too, that motivating the answer to a problem gives students a greater desire to learn as well as a deeper understanding, and it develops critical thinking skills.
I am a graduate of North Carolina State University where I earned a doctorate degree in Applied Mathematics. After graduation, I held a Post-doctoral position at one of the five United States military service academies. I am currently an Assistant Professor at another one of the service academies. My overarching goal is to broaden the minds of my students and be an integral part of their future careers. Being a math professor is a fulfilling career that comes with interesting challenges. One component of my responsibility as an instructor is to show students that mathematics is not as tedious as they may think, and it can not only be enjoyable but useful. My goal is to help instill confidence in my students so that they can believe that they can perform well in class, and as a result actually be successful. It is important that my students understand concepts well rather than just memorize rules. My ideas for aiding students to be successful in learning mathematics is to provide a fun environment conducive to learning. My style of teaching allows the students to express their ideas freely in class and creates an environment where students can learn from their mistakes.I have taught a variety of classes in my career including single variable calculus, multivariable calculus, differential equations, mathematical modeling, engineering mathematics, and an introduction to proof writing and set theory course. I love to teach calculus and differential equations as an applied mathematician, however I really enjoyed teaching set theory and introduction to proof writing as well.
I love math, science, and working with students! I have two Bachelor's degrees one in Chemistry and the second in Biology. I have had experience tutoring elementary, middle school, high school, and college students. I have experience with different learning styles and love to help students understand by making learning easier.

I am an Industrial and Systems Engineering student at NC State University, with a minor in Statistics. I also completed my associates degree in high school, alongside my Business Administration certificate. Since High School, I have worked a multitude of jobs and mentorship roles for students ranging in ages of 4-18. With a passion to work with students, I aim to not only assist students in their learning, but to also help them discover study skills that will carry them through their academics. I'm excited to aid students in college prep, writing improvement, as well as Science and Math help at all grade levels!
I completed my undergraduate education in Animal Ecology and Forestry at Iowa State University in 2010. While a student at Iowa State, I assisted numerous graduate students with wildlife research projects and even developed my own project on the vegetative cover used by jackrabbits. I received my Master of Science degree in Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology from North Carolina State University in March of 2013. My thesis involved studying the impact of spring and summer prescribed fire in forest management on wild turkey nest survival. The field of Biology is thrilling to me, from cell replication to plant and animal physiology and especially ecosystem-level processes. Through my experiences in Biology and Environmental Science, however, I have learned to appreciate and thoroughly enjoy math as well. The majority of my tutoring experience has been in Math, particularly Algebra 1; however, my favorite subjects are Biology and Environmental Science! Because of my love for nature and the out of doors, I like to incorporate real world, hands on examples when teaching. When I take a break from learning, I love to hike, especially with my dog Lilly, bird-watch, and even play some video games!
