I am a former educator who has worked in public education in North Carolina for six years. Growing up I developed a love for education by witnessing my mother teach and help students in the neighborhood. I knew when I was in kindergarten that I wanted to be a teacher and in 1992 upon graduating from college I was afforded the opportunity to become a teacher in the county in which I lived as a child. I was a teacher for 19 years, prior to becoming an assistant principal and principal. I served as an assistant principal and principal for 8 years before taking a position as Director of Curriculum & Instruction/Title I and Chief Academic Officer. I retired in June of 2023 after completing 31 years of service in education. I knew when I retired that it would be hard to just stop. I have always had a desire to help students learn and be successful. I believe that students learn differently and as educators we have to adapt our teaching to meet their individual needs.

I am a father; raised two daughters who are 22 and 27. I received a BA Economics from NC State University. I am an avid sports fan; especially Wolfpack athletics. I am a senior student at North Carolina State University, majoring in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Materials Science and Engineering. As it turned out, I am good at tutoring so I kept doing it to help my friends; I came to the conclusion that I am good at it because all the people I have tutored have said so but mostly because I compared how they would perform when I tutored them vs when other people tutored them, and my students would always do better when I tutor them.
