My name is Kelsey and I am an energetic, positive, 26-year-old teacher who graduated with my MFA from the University of Notre Dame in 2017. I am currently teaching Second Grade, but have extensive and varied teaching experience, having taught students of all ages, even university level! I also have experience working with students with behavior and learning differences. It is my goal to make all of my students feel encouraged, heard, motivated, and successful.

Hi! I'm a certified teacher with 17 years of experience teaching students in grades 14. I hold a Master's Degree in Literacy and am certified in both Orton-Gillingham (OG) and LETRS. Reading is my passion and my specialty. I have extensive experience helping students develop strong skills in phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. Whether a child is struggling, needs extra practice, or is ready for enrichment, I meet them where they are and help them grow with confidence. I also enjoy teaching math and helping students strengthen their problem-solving skills in a way that is engaging and easy to understand. My goal is to create a positive, supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable, successful, and excited to learn. I believe strong relationships, encouragement, and individualized instruction are the keys to helping every child reach their full potential. I look forward to helping your child build skills, confidence, and a love of learning!

I have received a Master's in Computer Science from UK and a Bachelor's in Computer Science and Mathematics from Georgetown College. I have done personal tutoring in mathematics for several clients, as well as being a Teacher's Assistant for an undergraduate Computer Science course for two semesters. I am generally introverted, but have developed better social skills due to activities such as acting and playing various games with classmates and peers.

In his book Democracy and Education, philosopher John Dewey acknowledges that "since growth is the characteristic of life education is all one with growing; it has no end beyond itself. The criterion of the value of school education is the extent in which it creates a desire for continued growth and supplies means for making the desire effective in fact" (62). These words begin to define why I have chosen to devote my life to this cause. Much of our culture supports the idea that education is merely a means to an end. Many of us trudge through our years in the university with the singular goal of becoming a doctor, lawyer, accountant, or scientist, and think once we achieve this title, our education is over. Yet we couldn't be more wrong. Education is the key to the survival of democracy and the development of the self. As educational leaders John Dewey and Paulo Freire believe healthy democracy requires educated citizens capable of thinking critically and communicating their ideas both clearly and respectfully. As an educator, I believe it is my purpose to equip students to participate in democracy and see themselves as global citizens with a responsibility to their fellow human beings. In this manner, I base much of my approach to education in the theories of critical and expressive pedagogy, believing in the importance of developing the individual voice of the student in the context of the world around them.

I am extremely passionate about teaching and tutoring biology. My expertise is in ecology, general biology, taxonomy, and general microbiology. I have 2 years of tutoring experience at the collegiate level, and 4 years of teaching experience. I can teach in a variety of ways. As for myself I am a visual learner so I tend to use more visuals and drawings when I teach, but if there is a prefered method of teaching, I am happy to alter my style to fit your needs! I believe that the best way to learn is to ask a lot of questions. Therefore, before every session, I will ask you to come prepared with at least 3 well thought out questions that require an answer other than "yes" or "no." Questions that require critical thinking, will not only help you better understand the material, but will also help me get a good understanding of what you know and what we need to work on for our sessions. My goal by the end of our sessions is for you to come out with a better appreciation for biology as well as a better understanding of the subject matter. I'm excited to help you learn a subject that I am so passionate about!

I am going in to my seventh year of teaching in the fall. I have a degree from Morehead State University in grades 5-9 Math and History along with my Master's in Literacy from Georgetown College. I have been tutoring for the schools I've taught at during our after school services along with tutoring outside of school at our local library. I have experience working with students who English is not their first language and students who receive Special Education services in school. I have a flexible schedule during the summer months so I can work with you and your student(s) schedule. My current role includes teaching Math to grades 6-8 at the local Alternative school along with helping the upper grades with additional math help. I am, however, capable of tutoring in any math level up to Trigonometry, any level in History, along with working on literacy skills with students of all ages. In my free time I love to cuddle with my two Pitbull dog children, play with my nieces, crochet random projects, and play board or card games with my friends.

Hello my name is LaShanda. I'm from the US and I've been in education for over 15 years. I help students to improve their reading by building foundational reading skills and comprehension skills. I also help students improve their writing skills. My lessons involve songs, games, art, etc. We'll use pictures, books, common materials found around the house, etc to support learning.
