I am a certified teacher and am qualified to teach English language arts, social studies, and BCIT (business, computers, and information technology.) I have extensive experience with hesitant learners and I really enjoy helping students find new ways to learn. I have earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in history, as well as a masters in education. My experiences outside the classroom including being a tutor, trivia quiz master, and a forensics coach. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about language because the ability to read and write influences every subject -- including science and math! My students see me as a member of their team and I strongly believe in starting the educational process from where the student is, rather than where they "should be." In my spare time, I love learning more about esoteric subjects, having random conversations with strangers, and really appreciating my surroundings.

Hello! My name is Raven, I am Master's student in Exercise Physiology and recent graduate with a bachelors in Biology and a minor in Exercise Science! During my time in college I took pre-med courses as well as macro and micro biology course! My favorite course subjects were courses in genetics and and evolution as well as kinesiology!
I am very passionate about helping students become the best they can be. I am not here to give all the answers, but rather to help students reach the answers themselves. My end goal is not to help students through one class, or one assignment, but to help them develop the tools they will use for the rest of their academic careers, and hopefully, the rest of their lives.
I graduated from Earlham College with a dual major in Classical Studies (Ancient Greek and Latin) and Peace and Global Studies. Shortly after, I received a second education by joining the Peace Corps. In Peace Corps, I worked for three years in Swaziland as an HIV educator and English instructor. What I have learned in my years of tutoring and teaching experience is that it is really important to meet people where they are. Everyone learns differently, and I consider it my responsibility to adapt, research and do my part to find something that works well for each of my students. My experiences have taught me that for teachers and tutors, there are no results without patience and flexibility. My favorite subjects are Chemistry and Latin, and I am enrolled in Calculus and Biochemistry this semester. In my spare time, I walk in the Arboretum, play video games and deal with my medical school applications.
I have my Bachelors of Arts in Liberal Arts from Earham College and my Masters of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary. Between undergrad and seminary, I led service learning programs for middle school and high school youth in a Washington DC. After seminary, I have been working as a campus minister, most recently at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. There I was a Teaching Assistant for two years. I love to connect subjects to the real world and popular culture to help students more fully understand their homework.
I've recently graduated from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana with a double major in Biology and Philosophy. I am looking to return to school in the near future to pursue a masters in either teaching or genetic counseling. In the past I have been a formal tutor for introductory biology classes, both for macro- and micro-focused courses. I have also done peer tutoring for various levels of math, up to AB Calculus. Aside from this formal environment, I've also spent several summers working at Boy Scout camps, teaching scouts a variety of merit badges, from archery to citizenship and public speaking. As a tutor, I am looking to focus on tutoring biology, pre-college testing, and mathematics, as I recognize that these are the primary focuses of most students looking for tutoring, but I would also be more than happy to tutor subjects like literature, history, and philosophy if anyone so desired. In regards to my teaching philosophy, I implement different strategies dependent on environment, content, and a student's needs. I can say that my only prerogative is to find the best mix of strategies for each student. I think the best tutor knows how to provide, not only academic answers, but emotional and tangible support to their student.
I look forward to helping you find the fun in learning. Unlocking the puzzle. Particularly in math, I love to help students realize that they CAN do it.
Bonjour y hola todos! My name is Cat and I love languages. I am studying French, Spanish, and Arabic and am loving every second of it!
Hi, my name is Tyrique and I am a research assistant at Mayo Clinic. I graduated from Earlham College as a pre-med and double majored in Biochemistry and Psychology. I plan to attend medical school where I will obtain my MD, and hopefully my Ph.D. in a combined program. My career goal is to become a pediatrician or OB/GYN in the future and help to eliminate healthcare disparities.
I have been a cell biology and genetics tutor for the past 4+ years. I currently work in an evolutionary genetics and molecular parasitology laboratory at University of Pittsburgh. I worked as a tutor for three years during college tutoring cell physiology and genetics classes. I am very hands-on, have a great sense of humor, and am very patient. My method of teaching revolves around working through the problem with the student, and then having the student explain their answers to me by walking me through their thought process.
After graduating from a United World College Southern Africa with a Bilingual International Baccalaureate Diploma. Before continuing to college, I took a gap year where I volunteered at HigherLife Foundation where I worked as a success mentor; in this position I focused on teaching high school students learning how to learn and how to succeed in exams. After this chapter I continued my college studies at Earlham College as a double major in Data Science and Global Management with a minor in mathematics. During my college years, I worked as a Teaching Assistant for Elementary Statistics where I taught statistics to all year groups. I also taught International Student Success where I focused on helping first year international students adjust to a second culture and succeed in their academic career. Since graduation, I have started a consulting job where I focus on improving the South Bend as a data practitioner. During my leisure time, I like to go for a bike ride in the forest and do wildlife photography.
I am a graduate of both Antioch University New England Graduate School and Earlham College. From these schools, I obtained a M. S. degree in Environmental Studies, with a concentration in Environmental Education, and a B. A. degree in Biology. My teaching work experiences have primarily consisted of doing environmental and informal biological science education classes and field programs for elementary, middle, and high school students at environmental centers, natural history museums, and zoological parks. Topics that I taught include coastal ecology, adaptations of animals and plants, biodiversity, watershed science and conservation. The subjects that I best suited to tutor are biology, life science and environmental sciences. In addition, I enjoying teaching about these subjects because I too am fascinated by the living things and how the living world functions. I believe that teaching any natural science topic is best accomplished through inquiry-based, hands-on learning, conducted through investigative and exploratory lessons and activities. My favorite past-time activities and hobbies include reading of action-adventure sci-fi-based novels as well nature/science books and magazines; nature photography; peaceful nature walks through woods and along the water; bicycling on quiet roads; and occasionally playing tennis.
