I was that student long ago. I take pride in turning complex text and concepts into understandable strategies that lead to success as a student.I have been teaching English Language Arts in middle- and high school for over 10 years as well as tutoring students one-on-one and in small groups. My afterschool tutoring classes were full of games and laughter as we had the opportunity to find joy in learning in small group settings.I have a BA in cultural studies with a concentration in literature and writing from the State University of New York Empire State College. I also have an MS degree in Leadership and an additional 36 hours of graduate coursework in elementary and middle-grades education and writing.

I am a retired Elementary Grades teacher of 40 years with the Duval County Public Schools in Jacksonville, FL. I am a graduate of Delta State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Education degrees. During my tenure in Duval County, I taught K - 6 grades in a self-contained setting, as a resource teacher in Title I pull-out Reading, served as the Reading Resource Teacher or Reading Coach, Math Coach and Computer Lab Director. I worked with the Otis Smith Foundation, teaching reading activities, during the summer camp for disadvantaged youth. I am an avid reader and have always tried to pass that love along to my students. I don't like to see anyone struggling with reading or math and will do whatever I can to help them be more successful. I love to see their expressions when they finally get how to work that math problem or learn to decipher difficult words that hinder their understanding of the story. My desire is to see all my students excited about learning and feel that a quality education is the key to success in this world. I am constantly looking for new ways to help my students increase their understanding of what they are reading or working through difficult math problems. Learning should be fun and I want to instill that feeling in all my students.
Teaching has always been a way of life for me. I have 12 years of teaching experience from Pre-K to 12th grade. My desire throughout my educational career is to ensure that any student that I come in contact with, leaves more knowledgeable than they were before I met them. I have four degrees and I am currently seeking another degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Delta State University. I aspire to tutor students in English, Social Studies, and Writing. I love reading and writing. I have always been an ELA teacher and my students have done well. Hello! I am a May 2020 graduate from Delta State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I have a Master's in Library Sciences and Information Services from the University of Central Missouri. I am also endorsed and certified to teach k-12 in reading, English, social studies, and computer science, as well as teaching math k-9. I have 6 years of classroom teaching experience. I have experience tutoring, teaching swim lessons, and teaching in an elementary and middle school setting. I have focused on several subjects with mathematics being the most prominent subject I've taught. I am passionate about helping students because I was once in their shoes. When I was younger, I wished I had a strong tutor to help me with subjects I struggled with.
I graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Art in Psychology. I am currently working on a Masters in Teaching. I graduated from the University of Mississippi, where I received a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (K-6), while also receiving secondary education degrees (7-12) in English, history, and math. I later received my certification in SREB Math Ready as well. In 2021, I decided to go back to school, where I attended Delta State University. During my tenure, I received a master's degree in Education Administration and Supervision. I am currently getting ready to start my eleventh year as an educator in Northeast Mississippi. Over the last ten years, I have taught the following subjects: Foundations of Algebra, Algebra 1, 2, & 3, Geometry, College Algebra (facilitator), and Yearbook. I can tutor all elementary subjects from K-6 grades, along with math, English, and history for 7-12 grades. I'm most passionate about tutoring math. I believe that it is my job to reach and grow each and every student that I have the pleasure of educating. In 2022, I completed my Ph.D. in Chemistry at Vanderbilt University. My goal is to use my expertise in chemistry, algebra, and calculus to help students not only learn but also enjoy these subjects.
