Who needs tutoring?
No obligation. Takes ~1 minute.

I am a graduate of Champlain College. I received my Bachelor of Science in Communications, specializing in Sonic Arts. The subjects that I primarily tutor are math and a variety of technologies. I am a dedicated worker who strongly believes in collaboration and creative thinking.

I have a Bachelor's of Science in Game Design from Champlain College with strong roots in computer art and programming. At Champlain College, I was trained by industry veterans and toured/interned with several independent and AAA companies, so I know what is desired by professionals in the field. After graduating I began pursuing a career as an independent game developer and have been honing my skills ever since. Making games is a difficult but rewarding experience, and one that requires a range of skills across multiple mediums. A typical designer is expected to be able to make basic art assets in programs like PhotoShop and Maya, as well as program game demos in languages like C or Java, all on top of their main obligation which is to deliver a satisfying experience to players. I can teach you all of these skills and more in preparation for your career in Game Development, and promise to always be devoted to the success and learning of my students. My professional background is in the field of cybersecurity and digital forensics. I hold a Masters of Digital Forensic Science from Champlain College as well as a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from Saint Vincent College. In-between those degrees I also have many certifications. I have experience teaching in a wide variety of subjects which also include children's subjects. In my spare time I enjoy skiing, hiking and working with my animals. I volunteer as much as I can as I believe in giving back to my community.
I have over ten years of experience working in a school setting as an English teacher for English language learners. I have a master's degree in Early Childhood Education with a focus in Special Education from Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont. My undergraduate degree is in Sociology. I also have a TEFL certificate. I love to help students with reading and writing skills. I enjoy helping students learn new vocabulary words and explore their interests. When I need inspiration for teaching, I visit the UNESCO website where I am reminded that education is a global effort. While doing research for my graduate project, I came across a document called Education 2030, which also influences my teaching philosophy. The document states that, "Learners should be able to link their learning experiences to the real world and have a sense of purpose in their learning."
Looking to use my 20+ years of experience in corporate finance to teach/tutor/mentor others.

Frequently Asked Questions
Tutors with Champlain College experience understand the specific academic culture, course rigor, and teaching philosophy of the institution. They've navigated the same curriculum and can provide insider perspective on what professors expect, how to succeed in challenging courses, and how to balance Champlain's project-based learning approach. This firsthand knowledge helps them anticipate student struggles and tailor explanations in ways that resonate with how Champlain teaches.
Champlain College alumni tutors are particularly strong in computer science, information technology, business, digital arts, and cybersecurity—areas where the college has built strong reputations. Many also tutor mathematics, writing, and liberal arts subjects that form the foundation of Champlain's interdisciplinary curriculum. Because they've completed these courses at Champlain, they understand both the technical content and how it connects to real-world applications the college emphasizes.
Varsity Tutors connects you with tutors based on your specific needs, subject, and learning goals—and can prioritize matching you with someone who has Champlain College experience if that's important to you. When you share that you attend or have attended Champlain, we take that into account alongside tutor expertise, availability, and teaching style to find the best fit for your situation.
Your first session is focused on understanding your current challenges, academic goals, and learning style. A tutor with Champlain College background will ask about specific courses or projects you're working on, discuss what's not clicking, and share how they approached similar material when they were a student. Together, you'll create a plan for how personalized tutoring can help you succeed.
Yes—alumni tutors have direct experience with Champlain's course structure, assignment types, and grading standards. If you're struggling with a specific class or project-based assignment, a tutor who's completed that same course can help you understand expectations, break down complex work, and develop strategies that align with how your professors teach. This targeted insight often accelerates progress faster than general tutoring.
Absolutely. Champlain College emphasizes strong communication across disciplines, and alumni tutors understand this expectation well. They can help you develop clear thesis statements, structure arguments, revise drafts, and present ideas effectively—whether you're writing essays for liberal arts courses, technical documentation for IT classes, or case studies for business courses. Their experience with Champlain's writing standards helps ensure your work meets the college's high bar.
Personalized 1-on-1 instruction means your tutor focuses entirely on your specific challenges, pace, and goals—not a one-size-fits-all curriculum. A Champlain College tutor can draw on their own experience to explain concepts in multiple ways, adapt explanations based on what's working, and focus time on the exact topics holding you back. This flexibility is especially valuable for Champlain's interdisciplinary and project-based courses, where generic tutoring often falls short.
Reach out to Varsity Tutors and let us know you're looking for tutoring support, your subject area, and that you'd prefer a tutor with Champlain College experience if possible. We'll match you with an available tutor who fits your needs, and you can start your first session as soon as works for your schedule. Most students see progress within the first few sessions once they connect with the right tutor.
