I am a graduate of Bob Jones University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Speech Education with a minor in English Education. I am TEFL certified. For the last twenty years I have worked with youth ages 3-18 years old in school, camp and volunteer work settings. For the past sixteen months I have taught 3,500 online classes to international students. I tutor a broad range of subjects. I believe that every student is capable of growth and improvement.

I am passionate about helping learners grow their leadership, management and over all business skills. My goal is to further equip learners and leaders to serve others and secure professional satisfaction ad success.

I have a Master's degree in Education from Grand Canyon University. I found my passion in assisting students to achieve that "lightbulb" moment. Since graduating I have worked primarily in reading and math. I have a love of reading that I want to share with others, as well as the creative outlet of writing. I struggled with math when I was in junior high, so I have a great deal of patience with students who struggle, and am willing to find ways to make subjects more understandable to students. My biggest hobby in life is reading. I have found great joy in expressing myself in writing, and very happy when I can assist students in expressing themselves in this same way. I have always felt that every child is capable of success, and I desire to help each individual achieve their personal best in all subjects. I find history fascinating, and try to help others appreciate it as well. I also enjoy puzzles and crochet, as well as taking the dogs for walks.

Growing up in a family of Sicilian and Irish immigrants, I loved any opportunity to hear about a family member's background. Throughout my school days, I developed a passion for the study of history and particularly the themes of conflict and identity. As language is closely related to historical studies, I began studying Mandarin Chinese during my senior year of high school. After obtaining a Bachelors degree in History from Bob Jones University, I moved to Northeast China where I lived for three years. For the first two years, I taught Oral English at Jilin University of Finance and Economics and learned a great deal about effective teaching methods and continue to do so. During my third year in China, a Confucius Scholarship allowed me to study Advanced Chinese at Northeast Normal University. Living in China provided daily opportunities to improve my Chinese and learn related culture.Having experienced many ups and downs before becoming fluent in Mandarin Chinese, I thoroughly enjoy helping others tackle this challenging but rewarding language. With the exception of Chinese, history is my favorite subject to tutor. I have tutored many in history by using an approach that stresses, "understanding the narrative." My students focus on learning historical narratives, instead of only memorizing dates and terms. Additionally, I have successful experience with taking GRE Verbal. This fall, I plan to study International Relations/Middle East Studies at the graduate level.

Chemistry is my passion. I like to help students understand it, so that they can be passionate about it, too! I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry (with a math/music minor) and a Master of Arts in Teaching Science. I have spent the last several years imparting that knowledge to students as an educator, and I have experience tutoring virtually and in-person for my school. I have a knack for explaining difficult concepts in a simple, logical way, so one of my college chemistry professors encouraged me to pursue education, and I did.

I graduated from Bob Jones University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and a minor in Physics. My recent acceptance into KSU's Ph.D. program affords me the opportunity to further my education in the fall of 2015. During college, I realized I love the process of tutoring students in Math, Physics, and Chemistry and gain great satisfaction in seeing them achieve academic success. Growing up on a small farm in the middle of Illinois, one of my favorite things to do was to watch the crop dusters zipping in and out of the little country airport just down the road. As I grew older, that love of watching planes blossomed into a love of flying planes and an enthusiasm for all things related to aviation. I am excited to continue learning more about flying as I get to share my passion with others as a teacher.

When I was working toward my bachelor's degree in counseling, all I knew was that I wanted to help people. Thoughts of teaching had not entered my mind. However, several years later I had an opportunity to teach and quickly fell in love with the creativity of helping someone grasp a new concept and the excitement of seeing someone's eyes light up when they "got it".My fourteen years' experience has been in classroom and homeschool teaching, as well as one-on-one tutoring. Hey! My name is Taylor and I have been teaching for 7 years now. My favorite subject to teach and tutor by far is reading. I love watching students get so excited when they start learning how to read and I love developing a love for reading in my students. Reading opens up a whole new world for them. A world of imagination, learning, and discovery. Once students have that love for reading, they have a love for learning.

With over 30 years of experience in education, I have taught students in multiple settings. Starting with teaching government, history, and English at the high school and junior high school levels, I eventually migrated into computerized education. Using management skills acquired in graduate school, I helped set up and direct a number of computerized learning centers in at-risk neighborhoods throughout Hampton Roads, Virginia. That experience led me into the field of technical training, where I have taught programming, data analysis, database development, and Web development courses. My passion is helping students better understand difficult topics and making it possible for them to use newly acquired knowledge to solve real-life problems. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree from BJU (Greenville, SC) in Social Studies Education and a joint Master's degree in Public Policy and Business Administration from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
