I graduated in May from the University of Wyoming with a dual degree in History and Native American Studies. I am currently spending a year in Boston with City Year Corps where I will be providing individual and small group intervention to at risk students. My subjects of interest are English, Spanish 1, and US History. I strongly believe in the value of a good education and it is my goal to ensure that students not only recieve adequate help, but that they fully understand and enjoy the material that they are learning. I tutor English Language Arts, Government, and lower level Mathematics. All three of those subjects are great to tutor, but I am a little biased towards English. I like to work with students by meeting them where they are at and finding ways to help them connect to the material. Everything is about making the student comfortable and letting them know they can succeed. I used to be a member of the colorguard at Sacred Heart University, and I miss it so much! My concentration was painting but hold high expertise in drawing, printmaking, sculpture, illustration, and more. I love to work in a variety of mediums and am excited to share my knowledge of fine arts with students. Still lifes, figure drawing/painting, portraiture, anatomy, color theory, art history, and stylized illustration are just a few of the skills I can teach. I can include some proponents of art history, structure and form, dynamic compositions, narrative, and more in my lessons. I was also a youth counselor for several years and am exploring a Masters's in art therapy, providing experience and empathy to work with a mental or developmental disability. I am passionate about the arts and am a firm believer that anyone and everyone can create art at any skill level.

From the age of 7 or 8 I have always had a lot of curiosity about other people and cultures and find hearing other people talk about themselves much more interesting than me talking about myself! Learning a foreign language and speaking it with native people, especially in their own countries is really thrilling. It opens up a side of ourselves that was previously unexplored and broadens our understanding of people outside our normal circle of family and friends. As a tutor I want to ensure that students are able to clearly articulate their goals, however practical or ambitious and ensure that they overcome any barriers achieving their stated goals. I have a BA in French and Spanish from the University of Wales in the UK with a Distinction oral proficiency in Spanish. I also have passed the French final oral (Part 1) exam at the Institute of Linguists. I am keen to help all types of students advance and accomplish their goals.

I have been a supplemental instructor for organic chemistry for 2 years and I have helped native speakers in French and English to learn the other language. I help students with their goals by creating a plan with several smaller goals to achieve a larger overall goal. It is important to communicate with transparency about these goals, the student's progress, and the student's educational needs. I use feedback to adjust my teaching style and track the student's progress.

I believe that, as an educator, I possess a unique form of authority; and the natural purpose of authority is to empower the steward of that authority to lead others to fulfillment.
