Reflecting upon my past educational experiences, I have always appreciated instructors who have taken a personal and individualistic approach. My teaching and tutoring background extends through all ages from very young children to college aged students. The majority of my experience derives from my dance background, first as a substitute dance teacher and then as a frequent choreographer in college. I have also had experience as a peer tutor in several subjects in high school. I thoroughly enjoy working with students of all ages, and my highly diversified background allows me to adapt easily to new people. I cannot declare myself a foodie but when I travel to other cities, I think the best way to explore is by eating my way through the entire city and then burning off the calories by walking through museums and galleries.One of my side gigs during graduate school was modelling and acting. The skills that I learnt during those days helped me learn how to adapt to my students' learning methods and adjust my teaching style from one student to the next. I love to start off a tutoring session by hearing out the student and what their background is. This helps me gauge how much scope we have to cover to have the student fully confident in the subject matter. I always encourage students to come prepared with questions including the so-called "silly questions because those are, more often than not, the breakthrough questions that help students piece everything together.

I am double majoring in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology and Philosophy at Emory University. I genuinely enjoy working with students to achieve their academic goals. I have experience teaching children and adolescents language skills, science, and math. In my free time, I can mostly be found outside hiking, running, or doing yoga.

I have a BS in Chemistry from Michigan State University and an MS in Environmental Toxicology (focus on Environmental Chemistry) from Cornell University. I was an undergraduate TA for General Chemistry at MSU in the Lyman Briggs College of Science for 2 years and guest lecturer for a graduate-level Water Chemistry course at Cornell. I am currently a student at Otterbein University, working towards my teaching certificate for high school science. I've tutored over 40 students in General and AP Chemistry. At Cornell, I was a tutor in the Math Support Center, a walk-in tutoring service for all areas of math. In addition, I was a calculus course assistant, running problem-solving sessions. During the summer of 2011 I taught a five-week SAT Math prep course to rising high school juniors.I usually mold my teaching methods to fit the needs of my students. I believe the key to tutoring is to help the student have an "Aha!" moment, when a previously misunderstood concept suddenly makes sense. Such moments give students a real sense of confidence in themselves and agency in their learning, as their hard work has paid off. Because of this, when teaching I aim to get my students to come to conclusions themselves, instead of giving them the answers.My main academic interest is mathematics, specifically algebra and algebraic geometry. I also have a passion for learning about physics and history (mainly European history). In my spare time I like reading, listening to music, jogging, and exploring New York City.

I have a Masters in Emergency Management from Jacksonville State University and a Bachelors in Political Science (Public Administration) from Troy University. I hold paramedic licensure in Alabama, with the critical care endorsement. I am a retired member of the Alabama Army National Guard with multiple combat tours as a combat medic. I am also a pro-board certified firefighter and IBSC certified as a community paramedic. I teach EMT and paramedic courses full-time and still work on the truck. I am committed to ensuring a firm understanding of the learning objectives in order to ensure the ability to pass the exam. My pass rates as an EMS instructor are well above the national average for the NREMT exams. I am passionate about having well-rounded practitioners who complete my training.

I have taught new Marines how to fly on military helicopters. I regularly teach College Mathematics (UCF calls it Finite Math), College Algebra, and Statistical Methods. I teach these face-to-face as well as online; I am very comfortable with creating videos for my classes and working with students remotely.I am particularly fond of Statistics. Statistics is weird; even die-hard "math people" have issues with Statistics. I like it because there is a lot more common sense and reasoning involved; it's not just finding the right formula to use.My sessions are very conversational. You know when you're in a hard math class, and you feel like no one can help. But then you realize that you know someone that took the class last semester and aced it - that's me! This stuff is all fresh in my mind and I know what they're looking for and what they're trying to say. I'm here to help.
