I am a recent graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, where I earned a Bachelors of Science in Biology. Throughout my three years of undergrad, I have been a preceptor for Cell Biology and Genetics. In addition, I was a supplemental instruction leader in CHEM 101 and CHEM 102. I am currently a Medical Scribe, but I will be attending VCOM for medical school starting Fall 2018.

I have an MBA, BS in political science and an AA in voice/music. I have a very diverse background in education both as an administrator and as a teacher...I consider myself to be a "Jack of all Trades".I have 8 years experience as a college professor teaching, business, life skills, academic success, ESOL, citizenship (government/US history), vocabulary, customer service and tutoring. I believe in teaching the individual. To me, this means learning who the student is both inside and outside of the learning environment. Everyone learns differently, but people learn more quickly when the information is presented in a manner that is relevant to their lives. Learning a student's interests allows me to customize a specific curriculum to meet their individual needs.I have also tutored and taught, both honors as well as the exceptional student populations, in elementary, middle and high school subject matters. Across the board, the key to a student's success is finding their strengths, building their confidence and connecting inferences between old and new subject matters. Grateful to have grown up in St. Louis, I returned in 2008 to give back to the community as an educator. My teaching responsibilities have included Ancient History, Western Civilization, and 20th Century World History. I have just started my sixth year as a certified educator, and I am reflecting on the changes that have taken place in my profession in recent years. With larger class sizes and an increasingly diverse student body in St. Louis area schools, individual instruction is at a premium. This is what makes tutoring such a valuable service to families. At UTD, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a focus on geriatric disorders and my Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology with a focus on feeding and swallowing disorders. At LSU, I received my Master of Arts in Communication Disorders with a concentration and thesis on feeding and swallowing disorders within the pediatric population, in particular premature babies. During my time at both LSU and UTD, I tutored in various capacities. I was a teaching assistant for a Statistics class for 5 semesters at UTD. At LSU, I tutored student athletes for 15 months in various subjects. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Math. In my experience helping students (elementary-college), Math always seems to be a subject where students have a mental block. It is always a pleasure to get through that block and break (seemingly) complex problems into their parts and then watch the student work through the problem on their own. I am a strong believer in continued learning throughout life and try to instill this drive within my students. In my spare time, I enjoy music (both playing and listening), swimming, running, cooking, and traveling.
